I recently visited the A&E department at Whipps Cross Hospital around 11 PM and was finally seen by a doctor at 9 AM the next day. I was discharged around midday, meaning the total waiting time to see a doctor was approximately 10 hours. During this time, I observed that the doctors were seeing only about one patient per hour at night shift despite there being a couple of treatment rooms available. The process felt incredibly slow, and it was clear that the staff were used this situation.

While I understand that the NHS is severely underfunded due to systemic corruption—where governments and their associates have allegedly pocketed money meant for public services—it was disheartening to see the impact this has on both patients and staff. The doctors, though professional, seemed demotivated, and the conditions in the waiting room were distressing. One lady in particular had been moaning in pain for at least 8 hours without being seen, which was heartbreaking to witness.

Having lived in the UK for 20 years, this was my first time attended the hospital. I had read about 9-hour waiting times in the news but always assumed it was media exaggeration. Unfortunately, my experience confirmed that these reports are all too real. It’s a tragic situation, and I feel deeply sorry for the people who rely on this system, as well as for the staff who are trying their best under impossible circumstances.

I would caution others about attending Whipps Cross A&E, but after speaking to others in the waiting room, it seems this is the state of most A&E departments across the country. It’s a sad reflection of how a once-beautiful country is being eroded by corruption and mismanagement behind the scenes. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this crisis, and I can only hope for meaningful change in the future.

Tragic experience in A&E

GP referred me to go due to severe swelling that he was very concerned about. I arrived at 6. I gave my blood at 4:30am and I sit here at 6am without any communication and with doctors seeing probably 1 person every hour (if that).

Staff don’t really communicate anything, so you just sit in purgatory until something happens. Wait times don’t make sense because if you walk around most staff are actually just hanging out and chatting between slightly busier spells.

Totally shambolic state of the NHS. One gentleman had recently had a triple heart bypass and was in the same situation. Another pregnant lady waited 10 hours to be told there’d be no ultrasound at night and she should go home and call at 8am to get an appointment. She was 16 weeks pregnant and the staff talked to her without any empathy or understanding at all. I’m sorry, but you don’t make a pregnant lady wait all night and then tell her to go and sleep for 4 hours and call back.

Mindblowingly poor, I wonder what this place is like on a Friday or Saturday night! Perhaps they could spend more money on medical staff instead of having 4 receptionists on all night…

If I could, I'll give it zero star! Someone could die waiting for a doctor to see them, forever 😩 this hospital need to be shameful, shameful! Their are a pretend for trying to treat people! You be waiting, waiting, this is a death place! Is a struggle placed to be! You're so supposed to go to the hospital to get better but all you gets over there is more pain! misery from all nurses and doctors! While Patient are waiting in pain and stress and struggle, suffering, annoyed 😒 you have nurses and doctors walking by with smiles on the faces! Crazy! They need to do better!! Anyone who gives good reviews to this hospital! Are a liar a very good liars! I was there, I been there, in this hospital! Is a death trap! I was sad for everything and everyone else I saw there with so many pain without getting any treatment! So spare me with the good review crap 🙄 😒 😕

I had a very positive experience at Whipps Cross University Hospital in London, especially considering my visit was on a Sunday. The hospital’s GP service was exceptionally efficient. Despite the fact that it was the weekend, I was seen almost immediately upon arrival, which was a pleasant surprise. The waiting time was minimal, and I appreciated the prompt attention I received.

The GP was not only quick but also thorough in assessing my condition. After a brief consultation, they provided me with a prescription for the necessary medication. I was impressed with how swiftly everything was handled without compromising the quality of care. Additionally, the GP took the time to send the relevant information to my local GP, ensuring continuity of care.

The hospital staff were friendly, professional, and well-organized, making the entire experience smooth and stress-free. Even though it was a busy time of the week, the efficiency of the service stood out. I felt well taken care of, and the treatment I received was appropriate for my needs.

Overall, my visit to Whipps Cross University Hospital exceeded my expectations. The level of care was excellent, and the speed of service was remarkable, particularly for a Sunday. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone in need of medical attention in the area. The combination of great service, friendly staff, and quick response makes it a reliable choice for healthcare.

I am writing to formally express my deep concern regarding the lack of appropriate care I experienced at your hospital. As a cancer patient, I was suffering from severe chest pain on the night in question. I arrived at your facility at 5:00 PM and waited in the waiting room until midnight. Despite waiting for hours, I was informed that 12 other patients were still ahead of me, even though there appeared to be only a few individuals who had arrived before me.

When I inquired about the estimated time to see a doctor, I was told it was uncertain. This left me in an extremely distressing situation, as I continued to endure severe pain while being told I might need to wait an additional 12 hours. Given the circumstances, I had no choice but to return home in significant pain.

This marks the second time I have experienced such negligence at your hospital. To this day, I am still suffering from chest pain, and I believe the lack of responsibility and inadequate care provided by your hospital could have serious consequences for my health. Should anything happen to me as a result of this negligence, I will hold your hospital accountable.

I strongly urge you to investigate this matter with urgency and implement the necessary measures to prevent other patients from enduring similar distress and lack of care

Attended A&E on 11.1.25 for a minor injury -was quickly & professionally verbally assessed by the ‘streamer’ and sent round to minor injuries. The reception staff were friendly & professional with access to my NHS record. I was seen by Carolina the Advanced Nurse Practitioner who was professional, thorough & kind - I was in and out within an hour - what a fabulous service -thank you all -a credit to the NHS & I’m picky as a former Director of Nursing.

My dad went to the hospital for an eye surgery and had come back with a blood vessel popped in his eye . There was a 1 in 1000 CHance of this happening but the person operating the surgery on him clearly doesn’t know what she’s ( Samantha ) doing. I was also informed that there had been many other horrible complaints from other patients at the hospital for the exact same person who had performed the surgery . I understand that nhs probably have fewer staff but this doesn’t not mean you make an exception for members working in the hospital due to the shortage of staff because peoples lives are at risk . Luckily he did not go blind and it was just a blood vessel that she had popped.
