Zero stars if I could give, avoid arranging online GP consultations if it's for someone below 18 years. It's not clear on the site when booking and they will refuse to refund if you make the mistake!

Truly a terrible patient experience arranging an online GP consultation.

Long waiting times on the phone to book an appointment, possibly too busy hospitals as a result of providing services to the NHS, to the detriment of private patients and terrible Accounts department. I have only had bad experiences over the past 18 months and so have my close friends (from no access to a functioning ECG machine when attending a Cardiology appointment through to being sent the wrong invoices and claims to BUPA when attending as a self funded patient. Certainly will not recommend the Rivers Hospital in Sawbridgeworth.

Going Private and being self funded I was treated like a second class patent.

The pre medical assessment was minimal and I was supplied no documentation or antiseptic soap or antiseptic nose gel.
Five week s later I went back to New Hall hospital paid for by the NHS for a knee replacement and was given the full works. I was very disappointed to not receive the same treatment as a privet self funding patent.

Arriving for the initial consultation costing £200.

For a start I was denied access to the Private lounge despite announcing I was a privet patent. I presume so the staff can keep the coffee making to themselves. It is only instant coffee supplied anyway.

Miss Amanda Bond was looking for me in the privet lounge 20 minutes later she found me in the NHS waiting area. I had arrived 10 minutes early. Miss Amanda bond thought I had not turned up.

I already had a ultrasound scan in Poole hospital confirming I had a 12mm hernia. I presume to justify her £200 fee Miss Bond Examined me.

I had two years previously attended New Hall Hospital for a left groin hernia repair carried out by a male surgeon . I woke up the following morning and my reactions were how did he do that. A little discomfort and it was over with. I knew what to expect. I received far from it.

The Surgeon Miss Amanda Bond who operated on me was heavy handed. Beat up my abdomen and bladder. Caused me to have a catheter fitted for a week.

I phoned up Miss bond Secretary the morning (09:00) after the "hernia Repair" operation. To tell her I woke up every 3/4 minutes wanting to pee that night. I had the worst night ever. Miss Amanda bond returned my phone call at 18:00hrs. Nine hours later. Instructing me to return to New Hall hospital everything had been arranged for a catheter to be fitted.

When I arrived nothing had been arranged. New Hall hospital staff insisted on interviewing me in front of other patents in the waiting area. Asking me why I was there what I expected to have done. I was very embarrassed having to have a catheter fitted. The waiting patents were laughing and sniggering together listening to me being crossed questioned.

The medical staff who fitted the catheter were very kind.

A week later I had to return for the urine retention test.

The male receptionist again tried to question me in public in front of everyone waiting to enter New Hall Hospital. He then instructed me to go to the Clock tower reception. This time I insisted on speaking to staff members in privet. I was then escorted back to the main reception and then on to the ward arriving 30 minutes late. For the urine retention test.

Again the medical staff were very kind. I was placed in a very nice room well appointed.

For my right groin hernia repair carried out by Amanda Bond 10 weeks later it is still causing me bother. lymph nodes swelling in the operation area.

Quite plainly I do not wish ever to see Miss Amanda Bond and New Hall hospital have told me to go away. There is no General Surgeon available. Despite other general surgeons being listed on New Hall Hospital website.

Absolutely terrible customer care, consultants don’t keep appointments or calls if you want to be constantly ignored or lied to then this is the hospital for you

I underwent Hernia Surgery at Oaks Hospital and couldn't have asked for better treatment. My surgeon was top class and every member of staff was super friendly. I'd recommend Ramsay to anyone!

Horrible place, wouldn’t let me in without mask to see my consultant, even though I have a medical exemption. I asked for a Risk assessment for mask wearing, they didn’t have it. I will be reporting you to the Medical Council. Read the other bad reviews as well! Avoid, waste of time!
