I transferred here from another hospital and at first I wasn't too sure - the building itself is a bit run down in places and there is a lot of noise from outside and inside. It definitely feels like a hospital. But very quickly I settled into the routine of the place and found none of that bothered me. The nurses are all super lovely and try to work with you to make things as comfortable as possible for you, and never make you feel like you're hassling them. My doctor - Dr Gupta - was fantastic and worked really closely with me and was available whenever I needed, which I didn't have in the other place. It's a shame there was no communal area for the whole building (except for the canteen) - a comfortable communal room where you could hang out in the evenings would make you able to connect with other patients more and not spend every evening in your bedroom. But all in all I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Nightingale if I needed it, and I've actually missed the place since leaving!

IF Y WANT PARADISE come to Our ESCAPE SHOW……As I had to Escape after being BULLIED for 11days by STAFF who went on
NOW GOING to NEW YORK Hospital close to TIMES SQURE this winter after ESCAPE from Nightingale in May to get better treatment and shorter stay 1 months max in NY and more outpatients .. TOLD OF TWICE by a HORRID NIGHT NURSE talking to an Old Death friend.?

After being there 15 weeks where I had another issue 4 weeks before by 1 night staff and my key worker who accused me and lied were dealt with by CRISIS TEAM.

.The night nurse apologised the next nighThen after apologising the nurse reports it to Ward Manager who
gave me a good telling off as she TWIST it all round . Like all the staff do here lying to all patients. making them all iller too ?…And many others left or escape..

, then she HID behind the door for meds as FELT QUITY ,

My blood pressure was high due to the stress of the staff . And then Senior Management a week later came and
FIRED 🔥🔥 🔫🔫🔫 at me CAUSED ME to ESCAPE .
Both the NURSE. WARD MANAGER and Senior MANAGEMENT .needed Firing.

My first missed call was at 8.30am after meds by then was up in New castle Upon Tyne 3 hr 1st Fast Train from Kings Cross.
After using underground untill closed, then walking all night in central Londo since 7pm . 😁.
As 8..20 am a …poor DAY NURSE had the most SHOKE of THEIR LIFE to find I wasn’t in my room they found me not there MY Ward BED was EMPTY and I was UP IN Newcastle Upon Tyne 300 miles away😁‼️

I had much better care and surport when I got back to Kings X met my best friend’s the police,👮‍♀️ 👮‍♀️. NEXT DAY AT 6pm 23 hours later.

When I came back from my Escape the STAFF TREATED me APPALLING …like a NAUGHTY CHILD under a 1-1 nurse never had in all my previous hospitals 4 admissions? that I had to FIGHT all afternoon FOR FREEDOM and DISCHARGE for GOOD that I GOT ‼️

Why didn’t Nightingale staff chat to me for half a day 3 hours (Like at the Priory Hospital over an Incident that got finally sorted

But too be HONEST I got alot out of meeting wonderful patients was the best thing, along side with Therpy Sessions with the Art Drawing, Music and Drama that I didn’t know drawing maps towards MY ESCAPE PLANS I didn’t know at the time . And for all the music drama therapy it has lead me to STAGE a London SHOW of how 15 PATIENTS ESCAPES , with lovely Matilda children have made it a wonderful Musical Show.
Never knew I enjoy Theatre Acting so much.🥰🤪.

Professor AEM has helped give me my life back. I spent months not being able to walk or eat. Hospitals and GPs failed and refused to help me. I am still under the Professors care but it makes me so emotional for the differences I can notice so far and I am ever grateful.

Only improvement to the hospital would be please improve weekend services for medicine prescription. Nothing is accessible over the weekend and can be very distressing.

The Nightingale is a paradise in central London. The staff are amazing and so caring. The facilities are excellent and there is even an on-site gym. The food is delicious. All in all an outstanding hospital.

I'm very disappointed with the lack of support and the unprofessional behavior of some of the staff at Nightingale Hospital, which raises concerns about the level of care and commitment to patients' mental health. While the doctor has been excellent, her PA and other staff members have unfortunately been quite unhelpful.

Nightingale was great and really saved me. I came out much better than when I went in.

It feels more like a hotel than a psychiatric hospital. I had my own nice private room with bathroom.

All the patients I met were super nice and helpful
The staff was caring and helpful
The food is quite good

Thank you Nightingale for everything you have done for me!

OCD Inpatient Ward review:
I want to give a detailed review so that any queries are hopefully answered by me, a past patient.

From my experience, this is an amazing place to get OCD treatment from. I got better here in 2 months as an inpatient than in 8 years of outpatient treatment from NHS, CAMHS, hypnosis, etc.

This programme has changed my life, and so many others I’ve met, and I’ve met some of my closest friends here. The therapists, particularly Colin, Natasha, and Georgia, and all of the nurses, in particular Seneca, have helped me get back to the life I once had, and I cannot express my gratitude enough.

The staff and patients are lovely and supportive, it’s a fantastic environment, the therapists are highly skilled, and everyone, including patients, know lots about various forms of OCD, from common ones like contamination, as well as lesser known types of OCD, such as Sexually intrusive thoughts OCD, False memory OCD, Somatic OCD, Relationship OCD, etc. I never felt judged for what I talked about, and for that I am so grateful.

No one is judgemental about anything you say in group work, so if you feel ashamed about your OCD, thinking no one will understand what you’re going through, the staff do, and patients are always caring, so don’t let that stop you from getting treatment.

The treatment is hard, there’s lots of Exposure Therapy, and you have to really push yourself. At times you want to walk out of the door and give up, but from my experience, and from seeing and talking to other patients on the ward, sticking with it, no matter how hard it is, is the best way to get better. It’s a tough programme, but it does work. Every patient on the ward I’ve seen during my time here have gotten better since being admitted.

One negative thing is the night staff, who are most often agency staff, and aren’t well equipped with tackling OCD, but this is something the hospital have been made aware of, and hopefully will tackle.

Price is the biggest issue though. To be an inpatient costs around £1100 a night if you don’t have insurance. Which is just ridiculous. Most people I’ve met on the ward, including myself, had insurance, but once that insurance ran out, even if we needed more treatment, we would have to be discharged.

You can then become a day patient (2 full days, Tuesday and Thursday), but again, this is around £800 per week without insurance. It’s also run every 4-6 weeks, so if you’re discharged as an inpatient during week 3 of the day patient programme, you have to wait several weeks before you can start the treatment.

Alternatively, you could be referred to a therapist, but the person you will be seeing will still only be for a couple hours a week once discharged.

Additionally, it does feel like more thought and planning needs to be put into a better discharge plan, and more accessible options for people once leaving the inpatient ward, as it does feel very last minute sometimes. However, they do help you plan what to do week by week, relapse prevention for example, and they contact you after 48 hours to check in, but does del very last minute.

The hospital also do have an ‘advocacy officer’, who, if you have any complaints about treatment, staff, conditions, etc. they will do their best to sort it. There are also weekly reviews on Fridays, where staff and patients all get together to discuss any issues patients are having, such as maintenance with rooms, food/dietary requirements, suggested outings for Occupational Therapy, such as to petting zoos, Hyde park, etc.)

Overall, if you can afford it, this is the best place to treat OCD, regardless of how taboo your OCD is. The staff here are incredibly experienced: so, without a doubt, I highly recommend this programme.

5 stars for the OCD inpatient programme, with 1 star taken off due to the price.

Absolute crooks, not interested in anybody’s mental health, one interest and that’s money, money, money.
I would avoid at ALL costs, there are far far better organisations out there with moral values and genuine care.

Disgrace of an organisation - and it shows by the numerous 1 start reviews saying similar things. And comical that a copy and paste reply is out to each complaint, which fully summarises this shambles of a mental health organisations real values and care toward “patients”.

Disgrace.
