Exceptional Care and Expertise at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

I recently underwent shoulder surgery at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, and I am incredibly pleased with the care and treatment I received throughout the entire process. From my initial consultation to post-surgery recovery, the experience was seamless and reassuring.

The staff were professional, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable. My consultant took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure, addressing all my concerns and ensuring I felt comfortable and well-informed. On the day of the surgery, the surgical team made me feel at ease, and the operation was a success with minimal discomfort. I particularly want to say a massive thank you to Deborah who cared for me before and after my surgery and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and provide advice. Also Martin in recovery who looked after me very well.

The hospital itself is modern and well-equipped, and the nursing team were attentive and caring throughout my stay. I was given clear guidance on my recovery plan, and the follow-up appointments have been equally positive, with excellent communication about my progress.

I was particularly anxious after my previous Gallbladder surgery at another hospital 3 years ago was so poor and I had been so concerned about this operation. But a different anesthetic method was arranged to make sure my concerns were taken care of. For this I am extremely grateful.

Thanks to the expertise of the surgeons and the outstanding support from the hospital staff, my shoulder will heal well, and I’m regaining strength and mobility. I couldn’t be more grateful for the care I received, and I highly recommend the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital to anyone in need of orthopedic care.

24th February.
Had a MRI this morning, receptionist was really lovely and friendly even though she was feeling poorly bless her. David and the HCA ( Amanda or Mandy) both of them were kind, respectful, caring and lovely. Please pass this praise on to all involved keep up the good work ❤️

I attended 27/2 7.30am for a biopsy. I 1st want to give a shout out to the reception staff who were great. One of them was fierce, in the best possible way 😁 She quickly squashed any selfishness of individuals to protect her patients and didn't stand for any messing. My problem is with the whole "everyone arrive at 7.30" ethos. Firstly they must a rough idea of running order before the actual day!!! Everyone expects to wait but 1/2 hours is plenty. I waited 5 hours in which time I was called by 3 people. Between them they asked questions, took BP, weight etc. All of these things could have been done in one sitting with a HCA it felt like a really bad use if the staffs time and was very frustrating. When I did finally go down it was extremely efficient and went like clockwork. I will say all of the staff were delightful.

Waited over 1 year to see spinal consultant who saw me for less than 3 mins. He was so can't be bothered and said to me and what can I do for you. Didn't even open my file. I'm still in agony writing this and my pain drove me to writing this review. He said will get the ball rolling for physio and that's it.
