Whitnash Medical Centre have ALWAYS been super helpful whenever I’ve needed to contact them. Appointments are always offered, sometimes a phone call initially but if GP feels they need to see you they invite you in the same day. I’ve been back and forth in contact with a member of staff called Gillian and she is an asset to the surgery, so helpful, quick responses & helping me resolve an issue that I was having.
Thankyou very much 🙂

Having been with the surgery since 7 years I have missed a couple of appts for check ups in the last few months particularly the last appointment as I had a fall that morning and twisted my ankle and was unable to walk and still recovering and trying to cancel appts using the impossible phone service on which I am kept on queue forever despite callback .I get a threatening letter from surgery saying they will remove me from surgery .

It demonstrates how bad the service has become and how careless the certain soecreception staff are . Very disappointed

Negligent , unprofessional , discriminative, puts staff above patients , ridiculously slapdash /devious practice manager (zero moral value) who abuses authority. Cheaply run computer-system based business, could get better service from a supermarket kiosk let alone the boarded off, off license next door.

After 2 years of back and forth with the previous medical centre I switched to Witnash Medical Centre hoping to get better care than the last practice, overall reception staff are helpful and friendly, can't fault them at all, ultimately not getting the help needed from the doctors and have had to seek private treatment elsewhere.

*** Update: Received a call from Dr Callaway who was very polite and helpful. It was great to talk to someone who took the time to understand the issue and offer guidance.

Just awful. I was at this practice for 22 years of my life and I could count on one hand the number of positive experiences I’ve had. Refused to investigate multiple conditions until I essentially begged them, either because “it’s probably your anxiety” or “it’s probably because of your period” or “you’re too young to have x condition”. Almost every single time they have finally agreed to refer me, I have been diagnosed with exactly what I expected!

At 19 I was declined referral to investigate back pain. I suspected a slipped disc. After 3 visits they conceded to - and I quote - “if it will make you feel better”. Lo and behold, there it is on the images: a big fat slipped disc.

I was also given antibiotics for abdominal pain multiple times before they finally caved and referred me for an ultrasound, where a cyst was found on my kidney (which was then not reported).

They ran a million blood tests that all came back normal, refusing to follow up every single time (newsflash: just because my blood results are normal, doesn’t mean my symptoms magically vanish) before I requested a referral to a pain clinic, where I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

They have prescribed me antibiotics for the same issue multiple times, despite it never working, and when I expressed this to the doctor, she asked “well what do you want me to do then?” She looked at me like I was dirt. My new doctor is investigating a hormone disorder causing these symptoms now. The kicker? I had prior bought a hormone test and reported the alarming results to WMC, who told me they wouldn’t worry unless I started growing facial hair!

It’s also impossible to get an appointment here. If you call in the afternoon you’re told to call at 8:30am the following day, hold for half an hour, then the doctor will call you “at some point”. Completely inaccessible to people who have WORK or LIVES.

No communication, continuity, or care anywhere at this practice. Needs a serious rethink as to the way their processes operate. Maybe listen to your patients every once in a while?

If ever a service would let you down, it would be this one. No consistency with doctors having to explain the issue to a new doctor everytime. Have been a patient at this surgery since childhood, and the changes over time and current doctors/level of care are so poor that they have caused so much stress on top of the health issues I have been struggling with. Doctors to avoid- Dr Tesh. He is arrogant and dissmisive of the needs of his patients and does not fulfill his duty of care as a professional. This practice has affected my mental health negatively and it should be the one place I can go to feel safe and supported. I cannot even transfer due to other practices not taking new patients. So lost and upset.

You call at 8:30. You get answered at 8:50. They tell you they have already no more appointments available for the day and ask to call the next day.
Dramatically bad service unfortunately.

I'm amazed by the level of care and service provided by this practice and the team within. When we first registered last year, I popped in with my baby to book at appointment and they had one in 10 minutes time, we waited and the Dr was running a bit late, however when she called us in, she'd taken the time to read through my baby's notes, which is the first time I've ever experienced this, and didn't have to recite all the medical issues my baby has had. Such a refreshing change!

I also visited for myself last week following surgery and the Dr came out to reception after calling me to open the doors, again as she had been reading my notes and knew I'd struggle.

Yes the receptionists are a bit fiesty first thing in the morning, but I'd be too if the phone was constantly ringing and they have to be the first filter to ensure the right people get seen. I've always found them to be sort reasonable when you explain the basics to them and have a bit of give and take.
