Can't reccomend Water Royd enough.
Great staff - retention is high and all are very patient and and attentive to residents.
Well managed, the managment team are on the ball and really care about resident's welfare.
The home is clean and tidy and well equipped.
There is a really good variety of activities and social events; there's always something goin on!

We chose Water Royd for palliative care for our Mum. When I visited ahead of admission what struck me was the Staff were still largely the same as when our Dad was there 8 years ago, again for palliative care. Having experiences with a number of care homes around Barnsley consistency of Staff is a sign of people actually wanting to work there and caring.
Whilst the home needs a lick of paint here and there, the staff are fantastic so please look past that. The care provided to mum in her last days was excellent.

I have just completed 3 weeks of college placement at water royd and have to say it is an absolutely amazing care home. Managers are so polite and welcoming. Lifestyle team do everything they can to make residents happy and do an absolute amazing job at it. Care staff are amazing and fufill all residents needs. I do not have a bad word to say about any member of staff, all amazing. I couldn’t recommend a better care home than water royd. Thankyou to all the team at water royd for making me feel so welcome, I had an amazing time. Will definitely be coming back to visit. ❤️

Zero stars if I could. Senior staff lie about the health of your loved ones. If you have loved ones who need medication or need help with food intake - they won't be checked.They will be left to not have medication and not have food. Mum went in a healthy weight and left a skeleton. She passed a week later. Things were stolen from her room (photos, bags, purses, glasses, teeth etc) by other residents and the care staff didn't seem to care. Dirty chairs and floors which I had to complain about. Fall mats not in place. Social services were lied to on numerous occasions.

I have been with WATERROYD since march 2023 as the Business Administrator and from the start everyone was so welcoming and the residents are so lovely. I have been in care of some kind for nearly 20 years and the respect and kindness here is second to none. The residents are our extended family and I see that everyday that’s why I know I’m happy to get up every day to go. Management are amazing and head office are so down to earth and so helpful. The care is amazing from kitchen to care. If I had to be ever placed in a care home it would be waterroyd without a doubt. There are no stars high enough to rate 🩷you only have to look at the cqc rating

Perhaps one of the worst experiences of my life. The staff here are all in cahoots with one another and close ranks over any concerns raised regarding your loved ones in their care. The Assistant Manager Louise Parker in particular must have previously been fired from the Gestapo for being too harsh. A most unpleasant character who didnt act in the best interest of the resident (inmate) on this occasion.
My Mother has since passed, and only now do we feel we can be honest about our experience due to fear of repercussions against her. Terrible experience.

Avoid at all cost!! Do not put your loved one in here! Had a terrible experience with my Mum in Water Royd. Worst month of our lives when she went in for respite in January.

I really want to give less than 1 star
Has dealings with this carehome has been absolutely diabolical when my Mum came home from there in March .
Items of clothing and valuables that can't be replaced gone missing .I would not recommend this carehome to anyone
