Wallingford Maternity & Birthing Centre - Wallingford

I didn’t give birth at the Wallingford Maternity birthing centre. I have been there for post natal appointments and nothing to complain about.
However, I was followed at my GP Practice by one of the midwives from here and asked her to discuss birth options since I was 36 weeks because I had some doubts about induction,’when to ask for artificial ocitocine etc - of course you have this info available online but I wanted to discuss in practice how
Things would be and what my options were. She delayed this discussion saying no need to go about it because I had the NCT course and induction we could talk if I was >40 wks. Because I couldn’t rely on my midwife for this, I had only one plan of birth which didn’t happen due to complications. I wish I could have the chance to discuss it with the midwife and had more birth plans prepared.

Probably the worst experience we have had my wife is 35 weeks pregnant and through out our journey have had nothing but stress and anxiety because of the lack of professionalism we have had with the midwives. They seem like they have no clue into what they are doing, we booked in for appointments and got the message to confirm we show up and no one has a clue why we were there. We got passed onto a trainee midwife who booked another session for us at whygod way only for that to be incorrect again. Now at 35 weeks we were already meant to have our 34 weeks scan but now can't have it because there Is no staff there to assist with our appointment leaving my wife stressed and crying because it seems like they just don't care and leaving us feeling uneasy about everything going forward.

We recently gave birth to our little girl at Wallingford Maternity unit with midwife Becky, the whole experience was incredible and we would recommend to anyone to consider giving birth at Wallingford.

Every midwife we saw throughout the pregnancy was incredible and always made us feel comfortable, I had a sweep in the days coming up to birth with Lou that was completely painless, she was so gentle.

I was so pleased to have Becky during our labour after seeing her a few times at midwife appointments (I even cried I was so happy) she made me feel in control and calm throughout and truly felt like a friend. I will remember her forever and always be thankful.

Again Wallingford made my labour everything I could have wished for and more.

From the person that answers the phone to the midwife who saw me regularly, every professional is amazing and so caring. We would honestly add some extra stars if we could. The midwives and staff at Wallingford have, at every stage of our pregnancy and delivery, gone above and beyond the call of duty. They provided us good advice and guidance throughout a difficult delivery that fortunately had a successful outcome. The post birth care delivered at the centre by the support staff, and the ability to stay until we felt ready was invaluable and helped us ease into life at home. Excellent people delivering excellent results in difficult circumstances. Thank you so much!

Just before lockdown 28/03/20 I gave birth to my son in Wallingford midwifery. I had a waterbirth and an amazing experience. The midwife Stacey and nurses were so kind and caring. Stacey reasured me my body would know what to do and she would keep an eye on things, so I could deliver without worrying. It was such a calm friendly environment. Couldn't wish a better place for my little one to enter the world. Can't thank you all enough!

I am forever thankful to Wallingford Maternity Hospital for helping me birth both my boys in the calmest, safest and most controlled environment. However, I am eternally in their debt each time I look at my eldest child. Less then 12 hours old the midwife noticed a tiny change in him, completely undetected by me. In a blink of an eye a specialist team & ambulance had whisked him to the high dependency unit at the JR. He had septic. Without the individual attention, continuity of care and unbelievable rations of staff to patients, I know it would never have been spotted as quickly and the outcome could have been quite different. The care, staffing expertise and calm that you receive is like that of a private hospital. This service is like gold dust and one of the biggest blessing of my life.

We had our baby there a couple of weeks ago, and the maternity unit were amazing. They listened to us, supported us and helped us have a very positive birth experience. We count ourselves blessed to have such a wonderful unit effectively on our doorstep.
