Worst hospital experience I've ever had. Pretty sure it made me even sicker then I was. 5 hours frozen cold super uncomfortable, eventually got a bed for the last hour with a super rude nurse who clearly shouldn't work with sick people.

Let me start by saying the vast majority of the nursing staff, and my doctor, were great with me. That's where the good ends.

I checked in at half 2 on Christmas day with chest pains (chest infection). By 10pm I was about to leave but my heart rate spiked, I threw up and passed out. I was wheeled into the recovery room and ostensibly forgotten about for 4 hours. My fiancee tried to flag down help when my heart rate jumped up again but was told 'if you're just going to obsess over it, take the monitor off him'. Nobody came to check if I was ok, even though I was struggling to stay awake and had gone a weird colour.

I was there over 16 hours in the end. No food was ever offered and the vending machines were broken. At one point I unsteadily walked up to reception and asked for water and something to eat. I was given water, but again I mentioned I was struggling with staying awake and was dizzy. Nobody came to check. My brother had to catch a taxi to drop off some food on Christmas day. Absolutely unacceptable.

I was supposed to have been monitored for my heart rate and temperature, but I was alone in a room for hours until my doctor came in to check on me and chased the nurses up.

I left A&E feeling safer than when I was in - at least my family will keep an eye on me. I needed to be in hospital, but I would have been better off at home. I've come away with a sore hip from being sat for so long and with concerns that my heart rate was so high and it wasn't caught or investigated.

I will never, ever, entrust this hospital with my or my family's health. Every time I've been here since my son was born there have been major, major issues with the care or advice we've received.

The last time my son was here for breathing difficulties, we were home less than an hour before being blue-lighted to north tees who told us the advice we had received would have left him brain damaged or worse if we had followed it. They missed my friend's stroke, they discharged my fiancee less than 24 hours after her c section without painkillers, the list goes on.

Please, if you have access to a different hospital, use it. From my experience, it's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt or does as a result of the care received.

Again, my doctor this time was an exception to the rule. She was attentive and although they were obviously very busy she took the time to sit with me and check in occasionally. It was thanks to her I started being observed again and was eventually discharged.

Not really a place I enjoy visiting however its one of the largest hospitals in my local area. Facilities are usually kept to a high standard. Waiting times can be elongated during busier periods.

Very happy with my visit today. Staff are friendly and kind. The doctor I saw was so understanding and helped me so much from arrival to being released it was only 8 hours which given what the nhs is being put through is incredible.

Ambulance took my 15 month son to A&E with breathing difficulties, doctors and nurses were amazing. We ended up being kept for 2 nights as his condition was not improving fast enough. The kids ward was huge, we were alone in the room (no toilet). Ward has a nice playroom with a huge selection of toys, another room with Xbox Nintendo tv etc. The kitchen had free tea, coffee and biscuits. Room had a small tv too. Parking was not free, paid £7-8 for 8 hours.
Everyone who treated our son was professional, kind and warm towards us. We were allowed to go home when some improvement was noticeable.

Absolute joke of a hospital. Staff need training and facilities need updating, last time being there they just didn't care about other patients other than to socialise with the ranks, NHS or no NHS, doesn't mean a hospital should drop standards!
