Absolute joke of a service no staff on any of the receptions to tell you where to go! The signage is absolutely terrible. Took me 25 minutes to figure out where to park the car!
Someone thought it be a great idea to put A&E up two flights of stairs ! As if it’s a test if you can make it stairs, you don’t need to go into A&E. absolute waste of money.

Horrendous Experience at Coventry University Hospital

Coventry University Hospital is an absolute disgrace. From the moment you call, you’re greeted with rude, dismissive staff who clearly resent having to do their jobs. The phone service is horrendous, and when you finally get to the hospital, it feels like stepping into a pit of misery. Most of the staff are cold, unfriendly, and completely indifferent to patients’ needs.

To make matters worse, you can frequently hear staff bickering about each other and even witness colleagues shouting at one another in front of patients. This kind of unprofessional behavior is shocking and only adds to the stressful environment. It’s clear there’s a complete lack of teamwork and respect among staff, which severely impacts the quality of care.

While there are a few rare individuals who are kind and helpful, they are the exception, not the rule. The overall incompetence and lack of basic human decency make the entire experience unbearable. Clearly, the CQC isn’t doing the needful, as this hospital’s service standards are a joke. Honestly, the hospital would be better off closed and sealed than continuing to operate in this appalling state. It’s a shame that a place meant to provide care has become a symbol of neglect and indifference.

I'll make it short and sweet, if you are bleeding to death and the ambulance crew tell you that they are taking you to Coventry UHCW politely tell them to leave you at the side of the road. You will live longer and be a lot cleaner. UHCW senior management don't read these reviews and don't respect the views of the "great unwashed." What other hospital would make a person with spinal cancer sit on an extremely uncomfortable hard wooden chair for 31 hours in a room fully of people coughing and spluttering with infections 2 days after they had their latest chemotherapy session and are surprised they have to be admitted because they caught an infection. Even after the Ambulance crew pleaded the patients case for them to lie on a stretcher. Place makes the barber surgeons of the dark ages look proffesional. Sat with relative in what is laughably called "Assessments" for 31 hours, staff ignore you are get bent out of shape if you ask them anything. Staff get express service and are always at the front of the queue regardless if there are people more in need than them. Saw it at least twice where people are in and out of the area and on a ward (always beds for staff in this hospital). They also dont have to worry about begging ward staff to do anything or and dont get sarcastic comments from ward clerk when "Here we go.....more aggro from the great unwashed" when you ask for clean sheets when you find your loved one lying in stained sheets because you want to change the sheets on the bed yourself. The same ward clerk that takes over 12 hours to process your discharge paperwork. (Discharged from the ward at 9 am and you don't actually leave the ward until 22:00 because paperwork is not done) probably done in less than in a hour if they were staff. It's the response of the staff when you ask them something "What do you want?" or they blank you you or give you flannel so as you will just go away and not bother them. A man seated opposite us in Assessments collapsed twice and was totally ignored by staff and he had been sitting there for hours waiting to be seen by a doctor. Only when hospital security were called (because staff wanted him thrown out) did anyone do anything. Hospital staff wanted boot him out and dump him back where he came from (A&E) because he made the place look "untidy". It's almost like the hospital deliberately wants you to get fed up and discharge yourself to save them a job. You will also observe that the Trust only responds to the positive reviews because they can spin it to make themselves look great at the next all expenses paid jolly for senior national NHS managers (who on six figure salaries can afford private medicine) or to the Department of Health or the next QCC inspection. The best advice I got was from a doctor after we had to push for a stretcher for our relative with spinal cancer, he said "Well done, the only way you get anything in this hospital is to fight for it." Trust knows it can bulldozer little people. There is also a bullying culture that comes from the very top and those at the bottom take it out on the patients. An example of this is when I went to see a consultant, i turned up for my appointment and told the staff on the desk i was here to see "Mr" the staff on the desk made a dogs dinner about belittling me in front of the whole waiting room that the consultant should be called "Doctor." I pointed out that the consultant has the letters FRCS after his name and is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and is traditionally given the title "Mr" as a nod back to the days when surgeons did not have a medical degree but yes today all surgeons have a medical degree and can be called "Doctor." That how much contempt they have for the patients. I used to work at a consultancy that did a lot of NHS contracts and heard several senior managers make offensive comments about the people that work for them thier attitude is "If they had two brain cells to rub together, they would be a manager like me. Seeing as they are not, they are morons and deserve to be treated with contempt."

Disgraceful service from this hospital. Reception staff are rude and that’s if there is even any staff on. Not one vending machine or drinks machine even work considering the average waiting time for a baby is over 8hours. Half of the parking machines don’t work so you have to walk half the length of the hospital to find one that does work after being there all day. The Doctors seem like they don’t even want to be there. Only saving grace is the nursing staff who can’t do enough for you

Terrible experience. Waited 8 hours to see a Dr. The night staff in the surgical ward are inhumane. They have no compassion, rude and clueless. The Dr on duty was probably not even a Dr. The head nurse was even worse. When the day staff came in, it was like a light switches in. They were caring and kind and did their job. Will never go there again … what a joke

I would have scored better if you treated your ward staff with a hint of diginty, respect and humanity.
13 patients plus overnight admissions plus two aggressive highly contagious patients in side wards plus three high dependency patients(1 spent 13hrs in surgery)one with special mental health needs and needed overnight special care(this patient had none extra as you deemed your one single nurse should also deal with his constant demands)
Guess how many nurses you deemed as sufficient?
Maybe 4 or 5 if you're struggling to fill shifts..
NO there was 1 plus 1 HCA.
Assuming senior management consider the manager responsible for staffing levels is working to their standards they should at the very least deemed the one single nurse(had I already mentioned that!)the privilege of an in person visit to explain how she expected this level of patients Vs nurse appropriate to anyones best interests.

If I could give more stars to this hospital I would, start from the beginning they treated me like I am the most important person in this hospital check my blood sugar, blood pressure and the required blood and other tests regularly..
Changed the bed covers, pillows each day, and getting the required medicine at regular times and much more I would recommend this hospital and the type of coffee service they were coming like every intervals like a five-star hotel.

I was not treated this better in any other hospital in my life. They are definitely life saving hospital clap-ups to the trainers of the nurses who teach them such a great behavior.

I don't have words to describe how good was the attitude of nurses and Doctors
they were very attentive and don't speak a word without using words like, my love, my darling and lovely which itself recovered 50% of my illness.

Once again the university hospital team a great thumbs up for you if there were like most stars I would have given you

Forgotten something they made sure of being healthy by doing every other test.

Thank you million for treating me in such a great treatment..
