The most shocking service I’ve ever had the displeasure of experiencing.
A child told them at 9 she wanted to end her life. Their reply, “that’s normal we all feel like that sometimes”.
She told them she heard voices. Their reply, “we all have voices they are our thoughts”.
I don’t know about anyone else but surely if you’re hearing voices of people you don’t know telling you to do things at 9yrs old there’s something not right.

You don’t get call backs, in fact I’m not sure why they have phones.

14yr old told the GP she was going to end her life. Two weeks later took an overdose, was in hospital for days and spoke to the crisis team. They said they would call her back in June 2022, it’s now July 2023 and we still haven’t had that call.

15yrs old, called the crisis team and said she wants to end her life. Their reply, “I don’t have a magic wand”. One week later attempted her life again.
During this stay in hospital we asked for the CAMHS Dr to speak to. We were told the Dr won’t come to see her because “she’s not bad enough”. What’s worse than a child taking their own life? I’ve never been given an answer to that question.
This child has been self harming since 10yrs old and it’s never been addressed. She’s been under CAMHS since 8yrs old and is worse than she’s ever been.

Seriously, I would avid these at all costs. They take more lives than they save. They are responsible for the death of thousands of children.

To sum them up in one word…… appalling!

So sad this service is available to people of Torbay. We met with Dr Russel Scullion. He hadn't read any of our notes, the numerous questionnaires we completed for them, or the referral before our long awaited appointment. Weeks have gone by now and still no feedback as to whats happening next. Everything about children's mental health services is appalling. Constantly up against barriers, its exhausting fighting so hard for basic support. Communication poor. Good luck out there.

Absolutely appalling. They don’t care for children. All they do is their best to not give help to even the most desperate children. Their aim is to discharge children as quickly as possible. The less kids the less work for them. Even suicidal kids are left on a waiting lists for years to rot. Camhs Torbay you are a disgrace and should be ashamed of yourselves, each and every useless one of you!
