I’ve been trying for months to see a doctor at Throston Medical Centre, but they keep telling me that I can only book an appointment online. However, I have never been able to find an available slot online—maybe because I don’t fully understand the system, as technology is difficult for me.

I have sleep apnea and heart problems. I constantly struggle with breathing issues. I feel like I’m going to die without getting help, and no one is helping me.

The worst surgery I have ever been registered with. The doctors and nurses are fine, when you actually get to speak to one of them. It’s the front of house/reception team that let the place down. There’s one lovely lady, sorry I dont know your name, but the rest are robots with no consideration for people who have special circumstances. You’re asked to ring at 8:30 to make an appointment and if you’re lucky enough to joint the queue you are rarely able to get an appointment. Even my children, who are both under 5 cannot always get an appointment.

Then there’s the online booking system which is awful to use as well. Don’t even get me started with that.
AVOID. Avoid using McKenzie House. It’s too late for me, save yourself!

The medical centre messed my appointment up. I turned up last week for my appointment and was told there was no record of it and the nurse had gone home. Then they found I had an appointment and they said they couldn’t do anything anyway as the nurse had gone home. I live a long way from the centre and had to battle rush hour traffic to be told they couldn’t do the injection I was booked for. A week later, still no further after ringing them today, in fact quite the opposite. After ringing early, message to say centre was not open to 8:30. Ring just after 8:30 message to say, only emergency appointments and calls to 9:30. Then after holding for some time after 9:30 you get told, yeah sorry. Nurse is off, you will have to go and find a private clinic. This is exactly why I refrain from going to the doctors… absolutely shocking service and it was their mistake not mine. To be told to go to a private surgery for a booster jab ( paid all my taxes and national insurance for 38 years ) it’s a joke. Forget the wasted time I had last week, the response is shocking and could not be handled any worse. Very poor! When I turned up last week as instructed three people in reception deciding what they wanted for tea and what they were going to watch on the TV that night and then they said, we sent txts out to say the nurse had gone home and missed yours. That’s brilliant and still no booster for going away on holiday. In the whole of the medical centre and group, only one person that can do an injection. Very poor, very frustrating and the final response is an insult. Sorry doesn’t fix it. Your mistake, you should of done all you could to correct your mess up.

Twice in a row been told they have 0 appointments despite ringing as soon as the telephone line opened. Wouldn’t even see a pregnant lady and turned them away to 111.

Always well cared for by very pleasant staff. Lynne on reception is a star and always helpful. Dr Mr Parker is just like a 1960's TV doctor. Caring & practical. Pragmatically tells you how it is with great doctor to patient eye contact

The only nightmare is the extreme stress of making an appointment. We use 3 phones to hit the system simultaneously from 0830 onwards. It usually works but surely there is a better way. The staff having to deal with this, must be equally as stressed. The elderly must just give up and suffer in silence

It's actually easier to get tickets to see Glastonbury than an appointment appoint with this surgery. Seriously you have to ring at 7:30 to never get through and eventually after 40 minutes you get told there are no appointments and to ring back the day after. You can't carmaker appointments in the future why not just have an open surgery.

Absolutely dreadful service. Never known an appointment system like this. I have tried calling constantly only to be told there are no appointments left. I have had enough. I intend to find another surgery. Nothing could be worse than this especially with the health issues I have. I'm sorry because I have always been with these doctors and the receptionists do their best, but enough is enough.
