So I needed to sort out three things for my cruise line medical after I did my ENG 1and a few things ware missing. Email late evening and received a reply within 10 minutes, was amazed by that. Booked an appointment for a day and a half later when in did the two exams I needed enquired about the third had it done down the road. In less than two hours I had all my exams done. Took a bit longer to receive the results as it was over a weekend apart from that. Fantastic service, very helpful and straightforward.

Attended this clinic for a cruise medical and came all the way back from Manchester when it was time for my renewal as I found it such a positive and supportive experience. The staff were very helpful in completing the multiple medical tests I needed and were happy to answer all of the questions I had. Extremely friendly, personable and knowledgeable staff members. They even went out of their way to ensure I got back to my transport home in time.

I am just about to embark on my first cruise contract and so I am new to all the medical checks and requirements. Alison, the Practice Manager was very friendly and efficient. She communicated brilliantly, answering all of my questions. Dr Hazell was equally as professional, efficient and welcoming. I had a great experience with this medical centre. The staff were amazing from the lovely receptionist, the Practise Managers including Alison and the doctors that assisted me. I am a past crew member from a previous company and I know what Medicals can be like for crew members; I have just recently been employed by a new company and told to come to this new facility (a medical facility I have never been to before) for my medical.

Before I go into the overall experience of Tyburn here is what I had to do for my Medical (This is for DCL)
1. Complete paperwork from the Cruise Line to hand into the Doctor - This I received with my acceptance letter as well as welcome pack (every company is different)
2. Went to get blood work done - This is a separate facility 1 minute walk away. When you exit this facility and turn right, keep walking straight ahead until you see another red door and this is where you will get your blood work
3. Tyburn will give you a piece of paper to hand to the ladies who work in that building and you will then wait until your name is called
4. Once called, you will have your blood taken - which takes less than 45 seconds and you will be redirected back to Tyburn for your timed medical
5. Once back at Tyburn you wait until your appointed time - if you have time to kill, you can walk around the local area where there's coffee shops and restaurants. About 20 minute walk away from Oxford Street
6. Once your ready for your medical you will go through examination for your medical (Again, every company is different so please read your medical to see what they require you to do)
7. For my medical I had the following:
*Eye Test
*Blood Pressure
*Weight and Height Measured
(BMI - If your BMI is HIGHER than 30 you will have to do a 'Fitness Test')
*Fitness Test - This test is a Step Up test where you will listen to an instructor give you clear details on what will happen. For me I had to listen to the beat and step up, up, down, down on the stool and the doctor will measure your heart rate; this gets attached to you before you begin. Once your heartrate reaches the maximum for the test to stop, the doctor will stop it
*Hearing Test - Beep Test
*Body/Breathing Check - For females, this includes a breast check with a female witness in the room

As a side note, this may not be in the order they may go in however this was what I had to do. After all this, you will be finished and your medical will be physically sent to you from the facility

My overall experience at Tyburn goes as follows:

Firstly, the communication I had with Tyburn was professional and very responsive; Debbie (The Receptionist) was one of nicest ladies I have met. Very welcoming and informative. As a new crew member for a new company, this is a great way to start your medical/cruise journey. Email communication was clear and precise with her throughout my time preparing for my medical and gave me clear instructions as well as making sure I had the right support before heading to Tyburn

Secondly, once in the room with the doctor he was very polite, quick paced and very informative. As someone who has had medicals for the last 9 years, this by far was the best and fastest medical I have ever done; not only was the medical thorough but I felt very comfortable with the privacy and professionalism

Lastly, after everything was completed, Debbie was very informative about how long it would be until we hear the results and about receiving my physical medical; which was fast paced and received it within a week of my appointment. Not only this, but Tyburn upload the medicals straight to the cruise liners which is such a better way of helping crew members as well as making sure the correct information is sent to the cruise line

I look forward to continuing to use this facility for my future medicals with my career at sea and can honestly say the team are welcoming, warm and very knowledgeable
