We were meeting in Tunbridge Wells for a mature ladies Hen Do, five of us in total. We chose the Spa Hotel as the reviews were good and on arrival it didn't take us long to find out why. We arrived well before check in as we wanted to make the best of the weekend. The ladies on reception were so helpful. They sorted out the check in paperwork, arranged for us to collect our room keys later and stored our luggage so that we could go into town, in the taxi that they arranged.|The rooms we chose were Cosy Doubles, which were exactly as described. Our luggage had been put in the room for us, which was very kind.|We didn't make it back to the hotel until midnight, but Warren and Peter on reception organised keys and made us feel welcome, despite the late hour.|Breakfast was great on the Sunday with quality ingredients and helpful staff. Everyone enjoyed it so much that there is talk of making it a regular late winter weekend.

We booked the Spa relaxation break and we had the best time. Abigail on the reservation team was amazing and so helpful in putting our mind at rest about the ongoing works in the Spa. She also very kindly arranged an upgrade on our room and we stayed in an indulgence room(216) which was really nice. We had dinner in the Orangery on the Saturday evening and the food was excellent and the manager was kind enough to waive the supplement for the cheese board which was a nice touch and greatly appreciated. We made full use of the Spa and pool and had a great time. Two treatments in the Spa were also superb and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A great pre Christmas treat for much needed and very enjoyable.

Had a wonderful overnight stay. The reception area is welcoming and has an air of comfortable luxury. The Christmas decorations were extremely tasteful (throughout the whole hotel). The room was spacious, thoughtful decoration in keeping with the hotel’s age and features. The spa treatment was excellent and the therapist was very pleasant and applied the exact level of pressure I requested. As for the festive menu in the beautiful Orangery Restaurant, it was superb. Breakfast was excellent, such a wide variety to choose from. What made this hotel exceptional were the staff. They all smiled, offered help when needed without having to ask. I will be back in the summer to explore the extensive grounds.

I stayed in the spa hotel a few weeks ago for the first time and absolutely loved it, felt so relaxed as soon as I walked in the hotel is so pretty and the staff were so lovely and helpful. So I then stayed the weekend after , they put us in room 303 which was amazing 😍 I sat and read my book for nearly 2 hours in the “little cave” bit I call it. The staff are so lovely and welcoming and the views from the hotel are beautiful. Look forward to going there again this weekend for valentines.

Ah, The Spa Hotel; where timeless elegance meets modern comfort, and where my recent stay in Room 321 proved to be nothing short of delightful. If one is to indulge in a night away, let it be here, and let it be in this most excellent of rooms.

First and foremost, the sheer expanse of Room 321 is a marvel to behold. A rare treat in a world of increasingly compact accommodations, this room bestows upon its occupant a sense of freedom and ease, aided in no small part by an abundance of seating options. Whether reclining in an armchair with a book, perching at the desk with a laptop, or simply gazing out through one of the six glorious windows (yes, six!), natural light pours in with a generosity seldom found in hotels.

Storage? Plentiful. Two televisions? Impeccably placed. A coffee machine? Glorious, and capable of producing a morning brew of the highest order. The bathroom is a triumph, boasting a separate shower (a must for any discerning traveller) and the kind of beautifully scented soap that makes one ponder whether it might be possible to take an entire box home.

Practicality is also well considered. The bed — divinely comfortable — is flanked by well-placed plug sockets, ensuring that one can charge one’s devices without the dreaded pre-sleep scramble. This is the sort of attention to detail that turns a good room into a great one.

Morning brought with it a proper, cooked-to-order breakfast, a rarity in these days of mass-produced buffets. Each dish arrived fresh, well-prepared, and in exactly the right quantity to satisfy without overwhelming. Fresh bread and juice added a simple yet luxurious touch — no need for conveyor belts or warming trays here, just honest, well-cooked food served with grace.

The majority of staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful, striking that delicate balance between professionalism and genuine warmth. There were moments of exceptional service, the kind that lingers in the memory, though perhaps the occasional less-engaged interaction as well. That said, the overall experience was one of hospitality done well.

Now, let us address the eponymous spa facilities, which are, shall we say, unconventional in layout. The pool, though small, is perfectly adequate for a tranquil swim, with a handful of loungers offering charming views over both the water and the gardens beyond. However, the placement of the sauna and steam rooms— not within the pool area, but rather in what feels like the reception of the health club — is a choice that defies logic. It is neither offensive nor ruinous, but it does lend a certain disjointed quality to the experience. The facilities themselves, while clean and functional, do lean towards the basic and somewhat dated.

Despite this minor eccentricity, The Spa Hotel is a gem. Room 321, with its space, light, comfort, and considered details, is a true delight. The breakfast is a triumph, the service warm, and the surroundings elegant. The spa, while imperfect, is a welcome addition nonetheless.
Would I return? Without hesitation. Some hotels offer mere accommodation; The Spa Hotel offers an experience — charming, restful, and altogether rather wonderful.

We've stayed a few times now and as always were well looked after, had a comfortable room, and great food. It's one of our favourite hotels to stay in. The hotel is well placed for Tunbridge Wells - if you don't mind it's hills then you can walk into the centre from there - but it's in a quiet location.

This is just a reflection on the spa facilities alone . I found the layout of the spa very unhygienic because people wearing outdoor shoes have to pass the steam room and the pool to get to changing rooms / gym / treatments so the floor got dirty quickly from wet feet and shoes from outside . The changing room was so cramped by the lockers only one person could change in that whole area plus many lockers were broken . The shower head in the shower broke and fell off . The pool was tiny and cold and no real area to sit and relax if you have friends with you . Being such a small pool there is no need for a shallow and deep end just have the same average depth as most pools have . Overall some updating and refigurement of the layout of the spa is needed . Tiny steam room and no hot tub . Those buying a day package will be disappointed. The one great thing for my stay was the fantastic facial in a very relaxing room that saved the experience
If this wasn’t called The Spa Hotel but something else , these would be extra facilities and a little bonus
As for the rest of the hotel the staff were friendly and our room was particularly luxurious and all very clean.

I was quite disappointed with my afternoon tea experience. The venue is gorgeous, however the staff service really let the place down. The staff turned off half of the lights during our afternoon tea, they only came over once and then did not check up on us at all if we wanted more refills etc. The staff on entrance and exit were very moody and did not greet us. I said goodbye and I was met with just some grumpy faces. Not to mention the afternoon tea selection was tasteless and tea was weak. It’s such a shame as the venue is lovely but staff really need some improvement and food needs to reflect quality of venue.
