Quite simply one of the worst GP practices I’ve experienced in 32 years. You can never get an appointment and the staff are rude and completely unsympathetic. Told to book an appointment on the system one website that refreshes at midnight, so basically I have to stay awake till midnight to try and get an appointment!
Having been a nurse in Primary care and community care this GP practice is one of the worst.
Locals constantly complain and Facebook community groups slate the place. It’s easier to Drive to Doncaster to the walk in clinic or go to A&E.
The practice manager should be sacked and this practice put into special measures by the care quality commission.

I have tried on several occasions to book an appointment but have always been told there are no appointments and to phone in the morning. I tell them that it is impossible to get through in the morning as i am travelling by train and there's no signal . I suppose the system works if you are sat on your backside all day and can wait for a triage appointment if one is available . I have a problem with uncontrolled blood pressure and only want some different medication before any permanent damage is done .
Not even a telephone appointment is available .
I know it's not the receptionists fault as they are only following protocol , but hey it's not working BIG TIME !!!

Absolutely shocking service.
After trying over a few days, I managed to get through after an hour of caller is busy…
Queue number four which took 20 mins to get to number one in the queue for a further 20 minutes.
When receptionist picked up, I confirmed my dob and name, and how could they help!!!!
Explained my symptoms only to be told to ring back another day as triage was full and they were on yet another half day training…
When I requested they booked me an appointment for another day, they said I had to call back.
Not one to get frustrated or one to swear, but I couldn’t contain my frustration and used one swear word, I apologised but when she said she was here to help, I said well you’re not helping.
I rarely go to the doctors and haven’t been in the last three years. The one time I need to go, and it’s a joke trying to book an appointment.
Definitely not the surgery for help in the community. Absolutely shocking….
Had difficulty in ordering a repeat prescription a few weeks ago, wouldn’t pick up on the phone, so called in to the reception. They apologised as only two staff members on, and looked like another half day training…… half day off

The worst Gp practice. Why does it even exist after so many reviews? No changes are made to emergency appointment bookings by the practice managers.

I have been on the phone to this practice since 8 am as it's a day off for me from work. Been trying to get an appointment, but the phone is engaged since 8 am. The phone is perpetually engaged, rather it is kept off the hook. So no appointments are given out. 300 calls made, time best spent !!!
NO wonder People throng the A&e for concerns that can be sorted at the GP level. They have no option out.
Underperforming practices should be held responsible and funding reduced.

I called for a GP appointment at 8am and got through - appointment at 9:20 same day - receptionist was lovely. I saw a Locum doctor ( I missed his name ) who was highly professional, polite and knowledgable. Easy to bash the NHS at present but my experience was 5stars.

The appointment system is absolutely ridiculous and is not fit for purpose. I tried getting an appointment for 2 weeks during the lock down . I was in quite a lot of discomfort. When I phoned them in the afternoon and actually got to speak to someone they wouldn't give an appointment and just said that I would have to call from 8a.m the following morning to get an appointment. I had been trying this for 2 weeks with no success. I went down to the surgery and pressed the bell . I told them I was going anywhere until I get to see someone. When I eventually did , I was diagnosed with shingles. Then I was told , if I had come in when I first noticed them , (2wks previously, when I first tried to get an appointment) they could've prescribed by some medication, but it was too late now for it to work . Getting drunk in a brewery doesn't even come close to the level of incompetence. I've registered with another practice and wouldn't recommend mayflower to my worst enemy.

I have been a patient of the practice for over 20 years. The early years have been fantastic, polite, courteous and swift. However lately and especially since the rules on appointments the practice in my opinion and reflected in others is dire. I have never had such poor service!

I have since moved away and the contrast between our current practice and Mayflower Medical is unbelievable to the point where I would never consider moving back to the area purely because of the dire service and with elderly parents would certainly consider moving them out of the area if they considered moving.

It is ridiculous to have to ring up before 8.30am and vie for position in an ever filling queue of phone calls only to be told that you must ring and try the phone call lottery the following day and so on and so fourth until you get an appointment.

I do fear for the elderly who are seeking medical attention as what starts off as something small could easily escalate by waiting days upon days to the point that it becomes so bad that they need to go to the local A&E.

Please for anyone considering this as their local service, do some research first. I personally recommend avoiding the Mayflower Medical Practice at all costs.

The reason for one star? It is because at one point this was a good practice, albeit 20 years ago. So 5 for back then but reduced to one for now.

Avoid at all costs!
