Let's start with the positives. The staff were very kind and respectable towards me and made sure that I felt comfortable and made me food when I didn't feel able to make it for myself. The harden is beautiful, the sensory room is fantastic and there's activities to do.
Whilst I was invited to have emotional support, I didn't find the conversation helpful because they just say "distract yourself"
Distracting yourself can be beneficial, however it would be much more helpful to be able to talk more about feelings, be listened to and validated. And then perhaps after the validation and empathy, distraction techniques would be appropriate. However unfortunately, whenever I did open up, I was just told to distract myself which shut me down.
It can be a difficult environment to be in when everyone is suffering mentally and emotionally, it's overwhelming but if I felt emotionally safe with staff then it would have been easier to deal with other service users.
Lovely place but emotionally support needs improving

As the patients cannot speak on their behalf due to the fact the staff do not listen to them, here I am writing on their behalf. The staff treat the patients like they are invisible and do not do their job well enough! The martins is for patients to get rest yet the staff treat it like a prison and the patients are more stressed then rested up. There isn't hardly anything to do for the patients like activities etc. You are meant to be here to support and care for them not brush them off!!!!

Lovely supportive staff they took the time to listen to me and make me feel at home. The place was always spotless and have a lovely garden. Just wish the art room was as good as the Martins.
