Fancy pub food menu, it’s a little bit pricey. My starter is smoked prawn which is tasty, the main is steak pie with pie top no bottom which is very disappointing, the dessert is all right. I think that’s why it is pricy, we had three courses meal. The overall is good, but it costs a lot to eat out even in the pub these days. The staff really s very friendly, the service is excellent.

Enjoyed dinner at the Dog.
Food was excellent of a high quality. Although I had the monkfish and felt the potion size a tad small.
Service was very friendly and efficient. However there was no mention of specials, only saw on way out. And we had to mention allergies. It would have been good to have been asked and presented with a different menu upon arrival.
I would visit again.

This pub is at the centre of the village. Well known for its food (I wasn't eating). You can find parking in the rear, alongside a garden. Seats out front. There is a bar for drinking and the other side is the restaurant. We came to watch the tour of Britain 2024 pass by hence the cycling pictures. Beautiful little village, very nice stop over. The olympic gold medalist Remco Evenepoel passed by and I managed to snap him perfectly!

Went for a lunch with my 3 sisters today, booked for 12 30pm. 2 diners had allergies, one to nuts and one was a coeliac. At first glance there was little choice that was gluten free but when the waitress came to take our order she immediately asked what were we interested in from the menu. She then went to speak with the chef and came back with multiple choices 😃 I chose the venison and wild boar burger meal though was very tempted by the mutton curry. My sister with the peanut allergy chose the salmon fish cakes with red lentils as did one other sister. The last dish to be chosen was the whole plaice dish which she had with fries. The dishes were excellent though my sister said there were more bones than flesh on her plaice but it was cooked to perfection. We followed with deserts, 3 sticky toffee puddings and one gluten free brownie all served with delicious vanilla ice cream. We had a lovely time and our 2 little dogs were very relaxed the whole time and more than happy with their little biscuit treats kindly given by the waitress. The only reason we gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the time it took to be served, our order wasn't taken until 2pm though once taken it was swiftly cooked and served. Also the parking was not very good, it is up a lane behind the pub, not easy for those with mobility issues, the lane wasn't easy to walk down and there didn't seem to be any disabled entrance so we had to struggle up and then down the front steps. However the atmosphere, staff and food were excellent.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Dog with our two dogs.

Staff were friendly and helpful, and the pub has a great country pub look and feel.

We had the gravadax to start, which was fresh and tasty with a delicious caper dressing.

I then opted for the roast beef after being told it would be medium rare and 'soft as a cloud'. It was delicious, perfectly cooked and really soft. It came with red cabbage, carrots and cauliflower cheese, which was all just right, although I would have preferred some more green veg.

If I'm being picky the potatoes were a little undercooked and not very crispy.

My partner had what we were told was chicken and leek pie, which turned out to be chicken and vegetable pie. It was nice, but a bit of a disappointment as she was expecting a creamy sauce inside, rather than gravy.

Finished off sharing a Xmas pudding, which was absolutely delicious, one of the best I've ever had.

We had a lovely time, would definitely recommend the Dog.

We stopped by The Dog just before they finished serving food, and they couldn’t have been more accommodating! I ordered chips and a side of veg, and they actually asked me what vegetables I’d like – a first for me! The food was perfectly cooked, with generous portions. The fish meal was spot on as well. The service was outstanding; the two bar staff who served us were incredibly welcoming and attentive. Highly recommend!

Stopped here for a spot of dinner one Saturday afternoon in September. Pub was fairly quiet and although we hadn't booked, they had a table free in the restaurant (though it was early).

Food was tasty, good portion sizes and well presented. Staff very friendly and the service was quick. Reasonably sized car park at the rear and small outdoor area with a few tables and a small play area with slides to keep kids happy. Plus a few tables out the front.

Extremely bang average. Slightly overpriced. Servers don't check back to tables . Paid £18 for the lamb and was given 2 very small pieces of lamb (literally had 2 mouthfuls of meat) and a couple carrots with cabbage and an aunt Bessie's Yorkie. Definitely not worth the price. Wanted to order another beer or two but my efforts to ask for one were ignored. Cauliflower cheese was brought to the table also but barely enough to go round so most people on the table only had one florette
