I’ve been registered at Civic Medical Centre for over a year, and I’m continually impressed with the care and service provided. The staff are always welcoming and efficient, quickly addressing my needs both in person and over the phone. Booking appointments is so easy, and whenever I call, they respond promptly and handle my queries. The doctors are attentive and ensure I understand my health plan. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. Civic Medical Centre has been an utterly frustrating, humiliating, and distressing experience from start to finish.

As a deaf patient, I rely on clear communication and reasonable adjustments to access healthcare, both of which Civic Medical Centre has consistently failed to provide. Despite booking appointments well in advance and requesting a BSL interpreter, they have repeatedly failed to arrange one. On multiple occasions, I’ve turned up for appointments only to find no interpreter present, despite being assured one would be there.

Worse still, their default response to appointment requests is always to suggest a phone call, even though I have repeatedly explained that I am deaf and cannot use the phone. This shows a complete lack of understanding, empathy, and respect for my needs.

When I’ve tried to reach them during their supposed phone operating hours, they are never available. Their advertised hours are misleading – in reality, they only seem to answer calls between 8:00 am and 10:00 am, a window that’s impossible for me due to work commitments. Attempts to book appointments through the NHS app fail repeatedly due to technical errors, and their PATCHS system is inaccessible because it requires registration credentials, which I cannot obtain without calling them – an impossible task for me.

At one point, I had to rely on a work interpreter to call them – someone whose role is strictly for professional tasks, not personal healthcare matters. This was entirely inappropriate and deeply uncomfortable.

I have been left with an untreated infection, unable to secure an appointment, and completely ignored despite raising these concerns directly with the practice. I’ve now had to transfer to another GP because Civic Medical Centre has made accessing basic healthcare impossible.

It’s painfully clear that these recent 5-star reviews are fake – likely written with ChatGPT or a similar tool – and do not reflect reality. They are filled with overly polished praise and generic statements that do not align with the real-life experiences of patients.

This practice is an embarrassment to the NHS and a blatant example of discrimination and failure to meet their legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010.

I strongly advise anyone, especially deaf patients, to avoid this surgery at all costs.

Do not be misled by these fake reviews – they are nothing more than a cover-up for serious, ongoing failures at this GP practice.

Hello, today I went to this medical center and it makes me sad that because I'm not from India they can't treat me. I blame this medical center. If something happens to me because I need a medicine for coagulation and I have problems with my breasts, they don't even want to look at me or anything because they are from another nationality and not their nationality, it seems to me. It's a shame that something as important as breasts is not taken into account in this center just because I'm not from the same nationality. They make me waste my time and don't treat me.

Dr Patel has been my Gp for many many years since he took over the surgery.
Also good service, never rushed appointments.
Also get called for regular check-ups
