Referred from my local doctors. After a blip of the machine breaking on the day of my initial appointment, and a rebooking having to be made, I was apprehensive and nervous. However all the nurses and doctors made a not very nice experience the best it possibly could’ve been. Everyone was so friendly and everything was explained to me with reassurance. I was put at ease from the moment I walked in the door. Thank you to all the nurses in the pre assessment and to Dr Stevan Fox who carried out my procedure. I was in and out of the hospital in an hour and a half. Cannot fault the day of my procedure at all.

Had a gastroscopy today and the receptionist was miserable and didn't make me feel welcome and the nurse that first saw me was very rude and dismissive. Had no care for me what so ever... I was extremely nervous and anxious and I told her this and she literally couldn't of cared less! However the doctor himself Dr dennis i believe his name was and the nurse during the procedure were fantastic and made me feel cared for and supportive.
The nurse who saw me first of all saw me after my procedure and completely ignored me! Very rude!
On leaving no one said goodbye at reception just walked out with not even a goodbye.
Very disappointing with the service and politeness of the front of house staff and the first nurse I saw

My daughter had Allurian balloon and it failed causing significant pain and a bowel and bladder blockage which needed the balloon removed after only a few days. Their aftercare service was non existence and would only remove if she paid over £2000 . Her local hospital looked after her and there was quite a wait as no doctor was available who could remove it. They kept on bed rest fluid drips and morphine until it was removed 6 days later.
The Chartwell wouldn't reimburse her even though it was thought to be a faulty implant only offered a replacement. She waited six weeks and against our warning had it done again. Needless to say less than 3 days she was back in hospital in incredible pain and advised to have it removed. We believe they are using faulty implants or inexperienced doctors are implanting it. Again they wanted paying to remove it 😒

I am writing this review on behalf of my daughter who had the allurion balloon placement done in August 2024. Prior to the placement, the contact had been frequent and informative and my daughter was excited to start this journey. There was an issue with the delivery of the required medication for prior to the placement, which should have raised alarm bells but something she overlooked. She received this, however after the date she was supposed to start taking it.
Upon arrival to the hospital on the day of placement, both my husband and daughter were concerned at the lack of professionalism from the staff at the Chartwell Hospital but my daughter was insistent that she wanted to go ahead due to years of struggling to lose weight or kick start her weight loss journey. She was desperate to lose weight and become confident. The placement was completed in a room that did not resemble the standards of previous private hospitals that she had attended. Following the placement, the doctor gave her a prescription and informed her to collect it when possible. My daughter collected this and had to pay for this prescription, therefore emailed Pietro who she had the initial contact and booked the placement with to see if this was included in the price paid and if she would be reimbursed. Pietro advised that it was not included and that she may not need it. She was surprised as this was not communicated to her when the doctor handed it to her. When she expressed her disappointment at the lack of communication and confirmation it was not included in the price, she did not receive a response and to this day has not heard back from him. I have been doubtful that the balloon remains in her stomach and had these doubts as early as three weeks after placement, due to her being able to still eat large portions and not feel full. When discussing this with her dietician provided (who she has been really happy with in terms of the communication and support) she asked the dietician if a follow up X-Ray is provided. The dietician contacted Pietro at Chartwell who confirmed that an X-Ray could be completed but at a cost of £250. There has been no follow up, no support and no aftercare. It is an absolute scam, they get you booked in for the placement, take your money and do not care for anything past this. I would not recommend anyone using the Chartwell Hospital for the Allurion Balloon placement. I would have rated them 0 stars if possible. Please do not be conned. THE ALLURION BALLOON DOES NOT WORK AND CERTAINLY IS NOT WORTH £4,000.

My husband had an MRI on his head and neck under the ‘gold’ service which cost over £500. The results should have been within two days but it took a week and several phone calls to get anything back. The results were finally emailed to me stating that there was a ‘tumour’ that was ‘likely malignant’ and recommended further investigation. As we were obviously distraught we got an urgent referral to the ENT consultant at Southend hospital who found absolutely NOTHING. He was astounded by the email and commented on the inhumane way that the information was sent and presented. He even stated that he wondered if the results had been muddled up. I complained and heard nothing for over a month - despite several phone calls and personal visits - and have now heard back from the new practise manager who seems to think that this is all perfectly acceptable! I will be taking this further but would advise that people give this place a very wide berth!

Was referred here by my GP for a treatment they seemingly do not do, instead of telling me that, they contacted me and asked me to come for a totally unnecessary procedure I didn't need, lady on the phone couldn't understand me when I was asking why I needed it, so I rang back twice and was told somebody would get back to me. Nobody ever got back to me.

So I'll be spending tomorrow morning playing the phone line lottery at my GP's again....🤞🏻

Today I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. From start to finish this experience has been first class. The care and diligence shown by the whole team, from the point of initial consultation through to the actual procedures today has been first class.

Huge and sincere gratitude to Dr Jarvis and his excellent team.
