We paid £1800 for what we thought was a professional service and having read reviews and completed due diligence; we proceeded with the 1 face to face and o e Temas call assessment.

We filled in all of the necessary paperwork from the ASRS V1.1, PHQ-9, GAD-7 and Collateral Information provided by Parents and Partner.

In the assessments which we scheduled for an hour, all paperwork was confirmed and there were a couple of additional psychometric screens including the DIVA form which is more specific.

What can I say we received from the ADHD Service Manchester? Inaccurate and inadequate records of information including
data which is a matter of record (not subject to interpretation), resulting in numerous amendments; poor communication and we were made to feel like a nuisance!

Despite our confirmation of the Consultant Psychiatrists involved being qualified in ADHD assessment and diagnosis AND listed on the 'Special Register' ; this establishment is simply a money-making organisation and should have been listed alongside the others in the Panorama documentary ADHD clinics exposed.

Thoroughly wish we had gone else where for assessment as my Partner has also been diagnosed and his experience polar opposite despite a reduction in cost. It goes to show that quality cannot be guaranteed or assured with higher associated costs for service provision.

As a Therapist myself, this has left much to be desired from professionals who purport to possess empathy. Even more so when we have requested to have our details removed from their system on multiple occasions; yet we still receive emails pertaining to their support group.

If you are looking for ADHD diagnosis and assessment, you would be well advised to look elsewhere!

After realising I couldn't rely on the NHS to get the help I needed, I turned to private options and went with The ADHD Centre due to their professionalism and GMC-registered psychiatrists.

I so far have had my full ADHD diagnosis (face-to-face) and 2 follow up appointments (zoom call). I am in the middle of my titration period with Elvanse, which is improving my symptoms. I'm also receiving proper aftercare and follow-ups which keep me on the right track.

Dr Ankur Kumar is professional, patient, a good listener and cares about the well being of his patients. I was able to fully explain my situation / health journey of trying to figure out what has been wrong all of these years, as well as share documents with him from when I was a child. He took all of this information in when he carefully evaluated me, and did not rush this delicate process.

It is expensive, especially when you factor in the cost of follow ups while you are going through titration. However, whenever I have had silly questions about things, I get quick responses with the answers. The pharmacy which provide the medication respond instantly, and give you options for delivery. Overall, you pay up because everything is done properly, with care for the patients, a desire to help them get on in life, seamless communication and access to healthcare professionals without broken NHS waiting times.

Most importantly of all, you can't put a price on the high probability of getting your life back in order, and these guys will give you that option.

You pay, but for good reason. Use them if you can't rely on your local NHS services for ADHD assistance.

Avoid at all costs. My first appointment for my 10 year old son was cancelled the day before. I am sight impaired and had to carefully plan and book in advance trains and accommodation. I asked if this could be reimbursed and no one got back to me other than booking me back in and avoiding the question.
On our second appointment we were told that they didn’t have enough time to finish the assessment and it would be at least a further £395 plus costs for more questionnaires to be completed. None of this is mentioned in booking ( in fact online and in the confirmation email it states the cost is for a full assessment and discussion of results at the appointment)
Firstly this was all said in front of my son which is completely inappropriate and far too much focus was on it.
I felt incredibly upset as I am unable to pay more money snd have paid two lots of expensive travel costs and feel this is a complete con. I emailed them as soon as we were on the train home with my complaint. Four days later still no response and my son is extremely distressed and I have no idea what to do. As a single parent who had to save for a really long time for this money this is absolutely appauling. Especially when they are fully aware of our situation.
The other alarming issues that I addressed with them is that before the assessment even started they discussed topics such as anxiety and depression in front of my ten year old son ‘Incase it would transpire he had it’ with absolutely no relevance. This would only need to be discussed if at all diagnosed, which it wasn’t and is of course distressing to a ten year old to hear.
They knew how difficult it was for us to travel so far with my sight loss and took full advantage and have showed absolutely no empathy whatsoever and I’m left with a distressed son and £1800 out of pocket.
Terrible

I can’t stress just how helpful Dr. Ankur Kumar has been. I was keen to ensure I saw a consultant who I had a strong sense of confidence in, so I would have complete faith in the accuracy of diagnosis and advice regarding treatment. Dr. Kumar absolutely fit the books as a specialised consultant who had previously been part of the team handling ADHDers at the renowned SLaM mental health hospital, and I was drawn to his profile on the ADHD centre website as a young, experienced doctor with a good vibe that I could hopefully identify and communicate with as much as possible.

From diagnosing my ADHD in a robust and detailed assessment to supporting me with titration of medicine, I always felt that the key to Dr. Kumar’s treatment was enabling me to make informed choices and take control of my treatment so it worked for me. This isn’t to say that his strong expertise wasn’t there to steer me - rather that he supported my acting as an active participant in each step of my treatment pathway with the independence to make guided choices. This was hugely important for me and this process has been one of assuming a greater degree of control over my life and health.

Dr. Kumar was honest, empathetic and non-judgmental. I felt I could be open and say more or less anything to him, which is something I usually find challenging with doctors. He had great insight into my experience and feelings, and was able to articulate where I felt unable to express myself fully. I couldn’t have asked for a better physician for this, and I felt confident I was in the best possible hands.

I would absolutely recommend Dr. Kumar to anybody seeking diagnosis or treatment for ADHD. He is clearly very experienced at engaging and communicating with neurodivergent individuals. I felt valued and respected as an equal partner in dialogue and planning regards treatment choices, which is a remarkable achievement for a condition where so often one can feel isolated, misunderstood and an outsider to society’s common perspectives and experiences. To this extent I felt Dr. Kumar gave me confidence and calm, reassurance and encouragement. Dr. Kumar built me up when my expectation going in to a space of clinical intervention and psychiatric evaluation was one of feeling diminished, vulnerable and a person who might come across mentally unwell. I’d expected to be placed under the looking glass of a serious doctor in a serious white coat, to dictate to me how I should deal with my serious problems. This wasn’t my experience at all. On top of having confidence in his advice, clear experience and knowledge, his relaxed and approachable manner was refreshing. Being able to talk freely about my experience of ADHD and make decisions with help of a compassionate, empathetic expert helped with feelings of being out of touch with others due to this condition, and of lacking capacity to take meaningful control of my life.

Dr. Kumar has a genuine and clear interest in the wellbeing of his patients - whether that’s in relation to treatment impacting on work performance, daily life or otherwise. He is a kind and emotionally astute individual. He’s also very funny at times.

While I am here I should give a special mention to the admin team - particularly Dr. Kumar’s fantastic receptionist Leanne Ford - prompt to respond, highly conscientious, and helpful with queries and requests.

Do see Dr. Ankur Kumar if you think you have ADHD, you won’t find the experience difficult in the slightest. My only regret is not doing so earlier! I look forward to continued follow ups into the future and continued progress under his supervision and guidance.

Dr Kumar has been my ADHD practitioner and Clinician since 2016

Dr Kumar is a credit to the field and is genuinely concerned with the well being of his patients.

His professional expertise identified a potential heart condition through his testing that turned out to be very serious. Dr Kumar refused to continue my medication until proper investigation had taken place, a decision that potentially saved my life.

After this he worked incredibly hard at securing me a safe medication from America, one that has been working well and is no risk to my heart.

A caring professional and I couldn't recommend more. I still have check ins with Dr Kumar every 3-6 months and its always a pleasure.

I was assessed/diagnosed and have received treatment and shared care reviews with Dr Ankur Kumar. He has a professional, personable manner and I have felt excellently supported from assessment through to receiving medication. Dr Ankur Kumar had lots of useful advice and suggestions as to how I can manage my ADHD symptoms, alongside the medication. My liaison with ADHD centre Manchester when booking appointments and receiving reports has been timely and professional. I couldn't have hoped for a more positive experience, which has immeasurably changed my life for the better. Thank you Dr Ankur Kumar and ADHD centre Manchester!

I had a very poor experience since diagnosis through the ADHD centre. Please avoid using - I am a CEO of an autism charity, with over 15 years experience and this is some of the worse post-diagnostic ‘support’ I have come across from a private provider.

All they are concerned about is making money at the expense of patients. If you receive a diagnosis, you will be spending almost £200+ a month if you decide to try medication. This is for the centre writing the prescription and then the payment to the pharmacy (cost varies depending on pharmacy). From my personal experience private medical insurance will pay for the diagnosis process and the monthly consultations, but not the prescription nor the medication and the NHS are very unlikely to prescribe unless diagnosed on NHS.

I tried to raise numerous complaints about their lack of support, their processes, not being provided medication on time. They were not interested. They use a call centre to take calls and never respond to voice messages or emails.
I shared with my clinician that my mental health had deteriorated and she was not concerned about this and kept increasing my medication. I decided I needed to stop the medication to determine if this was impacting on my mental health. I was on 60mg of elvanse (max prescription for adults is 70mg) I informed the centre/practice and I received no advice or support and told to get back in contact if I wanted to go back on medication. The side effects of stopping the medication were awful and I should have been advised and supported through this. I also question the expertise of the clinician, she seemed to be uninterested and reading from a script most of the time during my appointments. Every time I had to write all my personal information in the chat of the virtual meeting so she could copy and paste to create my prescription.

Please avoid and use other recommend private diagnosticians. I wish I had undertaken better research.
