I’ve been with Taunton Vale Healthcare all my life. It has its upsides and its downsides.
Pros:
- the receptionists really do try to take down all the information they can in order to get you the correct help.
- appointment times generally are not too far in advance
- most the time, there is a generally positive outcome with care
Cons:
- some of the receptionists sound so unhappy or just have a general “sick of this” attitude. On the phone. Often trying to rush you or huffing on the phone when you give a reason for the call. I say some becuase there are 2 receptionists that I can think of which generally do sound happy to take your call! So thank you to those 2 for not making me feel like an inconvenience.
- a couple appointments I’ve received have been 3 weeks away and get cancelled last minute. I recently have been getting investigated for heart issues and part of that was getting an ECG. The day of an hour before the appointment, it was cancelled. As they were unsure when the nurse would be available again, I was then told to call up the next week and rebook. Which means another 3 weeks of waiting.
- in relation to having my heart investigated, I am quite young (23F) and I am often told that I “don’t need” something checked as I’m so young I shouldn’t have any issues. Despite having multiple BP readings of 140/90+ and being generally healthy in my lifestyle. It often gets left alone and I’m left to worry if I maybe hospitalised again.
So to summarise, some of the receptionists are lovely, some aren’t. It’s questionable whether you’ll have to wait a while for your appointment and whether you’ll have a good outcome. Overall, they’re okay to be with for your healthcare, but could definitely do with some improvements.
* I’d like to state with appointment times I know this can’t be helped due to the current disarray of the NHS.
