Excellent surgery but reception and admin staff let it down. I am always able to get an appointment and the doctors are really helpful but one member of reception staff is rude and dismissive on the phone and cuts me off or talk over me when I try to ask any questions and does not actively try to help me, just wants me off the phone as quickly as possible

I came today and saw nurse Emma Thompson for a smear test. She was simply amazing as she wasn't too happy with the looks of this so called in the doctor to also check. I'm now on a 2WW to check everything but she put me at so much ease and reassured me as I did panick a bit. Also explained the new way of testing thoroughly and gave me great advice. What a wonderful nurse. She's also phoning me to make sure my appointment comes through. Thank you Emma! You're a credit to Sovereign and put my mind at ease. Speak soon! Xxx

There are never appointments that can suit workers hours, no flexibility, even if you are on extremely pain. You can't book for the next day. The stuff in reception are generally rude with patients that ask a question twice, to the point they look racists for their way to answer certain cultures.
I am really unhappy with the service in this centre.

I’ve been with this surgery for 11 years, they’ve always been so good, lots of doctors, fantastic nurses, experienced midwives. Now, it’s simply impossible to get an appointment, only if you come before 8 and queue. Before you could’ve called any time and would have been seen the same day no problem..

The team at Sovereign Medical Centre are truly amazing. Special thanks to Wendy who has been helping me above and beyond her job role for several months. Wendy could have said the situation was out of her control, but she treated me with respect and understood the urgency and has been chasing referrals at other departments. On two occasions now she has helped me get results that I was not able to achieve myself and I am truly grateful.

I am so surprised Sovereign has employed a new receptionist who constantly switches between flapping and making you feel like your interrupting her to using jobs worth lines such as “I don’t make the rules” you are meant to be here to help people, that’s what your paid for. Why are you still only offering over the phone appointments and if you dare to miss a call that’s it! People work, and all sorts of other issues, the majority of people can not hold onto their phone all day with no indication “allowed” of when a doctor will call. You can’t get through on the phone in the morning and by the time you do all appointments are booked. Again not everyone can come and queue up at 8am to book an appointment. You are discriminating against less capable and able people!
Seeing a more senior man queue up, get to the desk only to be told “no f2f appointments and so he left it, this new receptionist just smiled sarcastically and said “ I don’t make the rules” what have you done taking this type of person on? Is it deliberate? The other receptionists are all very good. We are no longer in a pandemic. Serve the patients and do right by them!

Doctors and nurses have always been fantastic, but the reception staff are rude, dismissive, and miserable. I've been registered to sovereign for ~5 years now, and I'm yet to have a positive conversation with the reception staff. Nasty people
