Terrible so far! Tried to register as a new patient, handed all my forms in as required - when I went there (a month after) to try to get my repeat prescription they said I was not registered with them! My details were still waiting to be put into the system. They then said they would be able to do it there and then. Went back a few days later and it still hadn’t been completed. Also trying to get my repeat prescription is nigh on impossible! I have been to the pharmacy a few times and have been fobbed off - saying I need to call 111. Debating whether just to register somewhere else!

Atrocious! Always takes around 30-45 minutes to answer the phone, and when you do get through, it's almost impossible to get a reasonable resolution. Prescriptions refused without so much as a phone call to validate the legitimacy of the requests. Having to use 111 and the hospital to get prescriptions due to the surgery not engaging in a conversation about a post-surgical problem to a health condition they should have identified almost a year ago. AVOID THIS SURGERY AT ALL COST

Unbelievably poor!! Been waiting for a sick note amendment since 16th January because I actually want to work and not stay sat around all day. 3 times now this has failed to have been done properly, with misinformation printed on the certificate. Told them that I’m not going to be paid anything if it isn’t done hence leaving plenty of notice, couldn’t care less, not them that’s struggling financially is it at the end of the day.
I was actually told by one receptionist to put in an Ask my GP request with everything I wanted word for word which I done. And still they can’t manage to get it right. If I done my job as poorly as what they do there’s I’d have been sacked a long time ago,
Just been back in now with my most recent mess up very little empathy or professionalism with multiple people stood around waiting for someone to emerge from the background to assist.

I’ve never known it this bad, an actual embarrassment!!

In contrast to other review, receptionist very helpful in sorting out medication issue and I was able to obtain non urgent GP appointment in a reasonable time.
Telephone screening system seems to work well with quick callback and helpful advice and treatment plans.

First time dealing with the surgery and so far so good. My new patient request went through smoothly. The person I spoke to was informative and helpful. Had a doctor call back when promised and feel very cared for.

Excellent experience and great medical care with attention to detail. I have found booking of calls/appointments via askmygp to be very useful and allow me to log issues without having to sit for long periods of time on the telephone as I work during surgery opening hours. I have found all staff at South Petherton Medical Center to be extremely helpful.

I'm updating my review to reflect the 'new management' and an improved service since coming out of the Covid pandemic.

The surgery has still unfortunately not reverted to the previous 'phone at 08:30 for an face to face appointment' regime that previously existed but relies on AskMyGP online messaging.

This works for simple issues, or potentially serious ones where a face to face appointment is possible even the same day, but falls down on intermediate level problems where a face to face discussion WITHOUT A MASK could resolve the matter in probably a single visit.

A particular case in point for me is where I found a likely solution to a long term issue myself, and it took 2 months and multiple phone discussions with different doctors, which was probably the problem, to finally get the basic BNF starting prescription level which worked. It isn't a 'miracle drug' as one locum rather sarcastically put it, but has made a massive difference!

Things have improved, but I can see why the 999 service has become overburdened with patients becoming sufficiently ill that they have no alternative.

These two practices function within challenging circumstances but, in my six years experience I have always received highly professional attention and advice at every moment of staff attention.

Every Dr., clinical specialist and reception encounter has been most helpful and informative. All staff do their very best to provide excellent service.
