I have been the Gp for a long time and have had my whole family and extended family registered there. I have had amazing experiences with the staff over the years however today I might young nurse Maria who did my blood work. Normally I’m very scared with needles and alway find it difficult but she was amazing I didn’t feel a thing so I highly recommend her if you are getting your blood work done.

I have been receiving treatment at both Somerset Medical Centre and Goodcare Practice for over 3 weeks. Every single staff member has been absolutely excellent in their care and commitment to my recovery from second degree burns. Firstly, the lady receptionist who wears glasses is an absolute professional, she is calm and kind. I go to the surgery every 48 hours for bandage changes and I have personally witnessed her dealing with all types of patients, including those who are rude to her and shout at her. She has remained kind, calm and professional. The same goes for all of the other receptionists. The two nurses, Monica and Khatira, are incredible. They are so kind and thorough. Monica is a pro at bandages and clinical observations, Khatira has a way that makes one feel positive about healing. Both Dr Murtazas have been kind and softly spoken with me. I would only say Dr Mahmood requires a lot more professional development but that’s it.

I called SMC on Wednesday 8/1 to book an appointment with the doctor to see my baby girl as her ear seemed to bother her. There was no reason for an urgent visit so I asked if it was possible to be seen on the Saturday. I must say that they offered me a slot with them on the Thursday 9/1 but it was for 7:45pm which I thought was too late. So they booked me in to visit West End Surgery instead on Edward rd on Saturday 11/1. We made our way there and realised we’re running a bit late so I called the surgery to find out that they were closed.
I just dont understand how this could have happened. SMC is also closed on Saturdays so I could not call to clarify. I was just dissapointed that once again my time
was wasted like this. I would not care much for myself but I do as I had to put my girl out in the cold for a trip that was pointless. Please do make sure your receptionists know what they are doing during bookings. This is the second time something similar happens.

Just to advise that I no longer work for Somerset Medical Centre as Practice Manager so I will no longer be answering or responding to your reviews. All queries/issues and complaints now need to go directly to the GP Partners. Good luck. They appointed a new practice manager who lasted 1 whole week, enough said about this practice.

I used to visit Somerset Medical Centre when I was a teenager, they were alot better than the current state.

Now on the rare occasion I call I will be waiting for the phone to be picked up for 25 minutes

Signed myself up to a new GP which I think should have been done years ago.
