There's a handy bus stop for the 16 bus (and others) situated in the hospital grounds. It drops you within a few yards of the Outpatient entrance. Once you go through the automated doors there's a reception to direct you to your department. Corridors have clear notices. If you happen to get lost you can easily find your way back. Staff are friendly, I usually find you are seen quite quickly. I have no problems at all with this hospital.

Says on website xray department open 24 hours.
It is not. Opens 9am.
Met the most irritating receptionist,who told me 9am opening. Showed her Info on website,but wasn't bothered.tried to exit the building, a notice in the most obscure place saying press the button.
Notice should be on the door,press green button on your right.mentioned irritating as her tone of voice was awful.what if I was illiterate and couldn't read,mentally challenged,whatever.
Other visits to the department have been A1 receptionists superb

7 times here in past, pretty bad burns due to epilepsy. Fantastic plastic surgeons, can't remember all their names but Miss Krystal was one, Mr Burns another. One more man younger man who also operated on me. I had burns down to the bone fixed, extra surgery with muscle graft after one burn, great job done on that, all on hands as all happened either cooking or ironing. Another burn on hand, damaged tendons in fingers. Wires inserted in them to try to straighten infected but given extra strong painkillers which were a risk due to pills for epilepsy. One surgeon now at Sunderland, nearer where I am. Great hospital, certainly one to be proud of! As I do Xst my thanks was shown by doing the Durham Medical badge with the initials of the staff in the colours of uniforms they wore. Ring of fire with initials of surgeons in red among yellows, oranges. Good physio for me, even taught me to Xst left handed as it was some time before being back to normal. Determination proves an awful lot! My motto 'never give up! There's always worse off!'

Kind and welcoming staff, fast diagnosis of serious condition, medication prescribed kicked in almost immediately and gave improvement within 24 hours. Can't thank the Shotley Bridge Urgent Care unit enough, espcially Daniel. (Also easy parking.)

Accidentally suffered a nasty chemical burn and needed treatment. Used 111 online to enter my symptoms and received a call back in under 10 minutes from Shotley Bridge Hospital staff.

A short while later I was in and being assessed by a member of staff who cleaned and checked the wound, had a further assessment by a nurse who prescribed medication to guard against infection and then had appropriate burn dressing applied.

The staff were so friendly and helpful from the reception to the treatment room. Thank you!
