I need to add balance to the negative comments. Shay Lane is an excellent practice. I’ve been with them for about 30 years. Dr’s Patel, Taylor-Bernard and Leaver have all seen me promptly (normally same day) whenever it was needed (even during the pandemic). I’ve also seen Sister Norris, who is knowledgeable and thorough. Reception staff are also excellent. They all do a great job. I’ve been referred promptly when necessary, and additional tests have been always been forthcoming when required.

Every time we visit the GP, we get told to buy products over the counter, even for my under 1 year old child. I emailed the surgery to share my concerns, and got told by the practice manager to register with a different practice if we wish to do so. I am truly disgusted by the lack of empathy, and in hindsight if I knew of the way they treat their patients, I wouldn’t have registered with them. I will seriously consider moving away from this practice!!!!

Very poor appointment protocols. Unsupportive. Not sure how a receptionist can decide whether a person needs an appointment or not.being a doctor my self I am appalled by the help I received not once but twice.

I admit I had my fair share of troubles with the reception at this practice a few years ago. But I also want to praise Dr Taylor-Bernard. He has such humanity and compassion that make one feel safe and listened to. He has always been extremely kind while also professional and highly knowledgeable. I'd like to thank him in particular for years of support and understanding. The best GP.

I've moved into the area last year and registered my family with Shay Lane Medical Centre. So far the experiences were good. I've called them up when I think my kids or myself needed medical attention and I didn't need to wait on the line forever. After the initial conversation with the receptionist, they usually booked me up for a call back appointment with the doctor on the same day, if needed, the doctor will ask me to bring my kids in for a proper examination. I think I've had Dr Taylor-Bernard and Dr Barnes before, and both are wonderful. Thank you.
