I cannot express enough gratitude to the Royal Veterinary College for their exceptional care and expertise in saving my beloved dog, Bernice, from a life-threatening condition known as pyometra. The team at the College displayed an unwavering commitment to Bernice's well-being, providing top-notch medical attention and support throughout her treatment.

From the moment we arrived at the College, we were met with compassion and professionalism by the staff. They quickly diagnosed Bernice's condition and wasted no time in initiating the necessary treatment to save her life. Their knowledge and skill were evident at every step of the way, and I felt reassured knowing that Bernice was in the best hands possible.

This is not an easy thing to write and I so wish things were different.

Please, anyone reading this. Find somewhere else to take your beloved pet. It has taken me 5 months to be able to write this experience down. I just hope it helps others not to experience this same. I wanted to give it time to make sure I was clearly thinking and not writing with raw emotion.

I brought my little Rocky (chihuahua) to this hospital needing a heart scan.

Whilst sitting in the waiting area I over heard the reception staff talking about “the ugliest pet” they had seen. It filled me with shock but focussing on my poorly Rocky I ignored it and sat with him. When the medical staff came to assess and take him off to be on oxygen they insisted on caging the poor little thing no attempts to say hello and ingratiate themselves with him. Putting a cone on. Insisting they felt he would potentially bite. He’d seen multiple vets over the course of 3 days none being bitten or scratched.

The reception staff shouting orders at us to get payment details, we’d already given insurance details and there was no question of costs as we were well covered and had funds to be able to pay. We hadn’t even questioned the costs. We were treated terribly with comments and abruptness throughout payment. No issues with our card payment or anything it just felt so unnecessary and a very odd way to be treated.

When the duty vet finally saw us to talk through the care plan hours had gone by we asked if we could say goodbye she said yes and to wait for shift changeover which we did. After an hour the reception staff then abruptly questioned us why we were waiting “who told you you could say goodbye” reluctantly they called the medical team to say “apparently they were told they could say goodbye” absolutely hideous manner. Finally we had the vet come through and take us to him. They wouldn’t open his box up or let us leave a t-shirt (for comfort). Despite us saying we’d happily sign away any right to have it back. No cuddle or kiss just wave through the Perspex. The box had a couple of blankets but nowhere near the comfort a little dog should be given. We at this point believed he would be fine just scans and working out what medication would be needed to manage his condition. If we’d known we would not have left.

Unfortunately our lovely little boy passed away overnight. The poor inexperienced nurse/vet on duty was not equipped to deal with grieving owners she looked like a rabbit in headlights not knowing how to act or what to say. I genuinely felt for her. She did her best but the hospital needs to train their staff how to manage that situation.

The whole experience was traumatic and made so much worse by the reception team and processes put in place. Some very simple changes would make this whole experience less painful. I really hope someone at the hospital makes changes. These are people’s pets not just an animal you are medically treating.

We have been through an experience with our other dog and went to The Ralph in Marlow. They were so much better, reception, medical team, everyone. The difference in care. The bed multiple pillows, blankets, allowed to leave a jumper (with agreement it can be lost or thrown away if needed). I regret so much that we didn’t go there.

My baby dog , Daisy has been looked after and treated to the highest standards by all staff at QMHA. Daisy was diagnosed with a T12-T13 intervertebral disc extrusion that was pressing on the spinal cord.

When I got at QMHA my baby couldn't walk , half body being paralysed 😢 , I was without hope and fearing for my baby's life.
I met Daisy's saviour and gave me hope!!! Dr Cecilia Gabriela Danciu together with her team who were very attentive, caring, supportive and very professional.

I knew Daisy will be in very capable hands as after 3 days and 3 nights going from one clinic to another, we were referred at last to come to QMHA.
As soon we reached QMHA, we were warmly welcomed by the lovely team at Reception, shorthly we were than greeted by Dr Cecilia.
Dr Cecilia took her time to time to explain procedure steps, recovery times and the perfect plan put in place for Daisy full recovery, I left Daisy without no fear kmowing she is in capable hands and looked after. Daisy felt in love immediately with Dr Cecilia and her team, she didnt even cared when she was taken to the ward that she left me crying behind 😃 😀.

I went home relieved, happy and was able to sleep knowing my baby is in good hands.

As soon the procedure was finished I was called personally by Dr Cecilia and explained how everything went and I was soooo happy.

Daisy had to stay in hospital for 2 days for full recovery and when we went to take her on the discharge day, we couldn't find her... Dr Cecilia panicked .. I panicked... and to find out after 5 min panicking that Miss Daisy was travelling from one ward to another with her best friends , the lovely nurses, to say bye to the other fur babies.

Daisy really enjoyed her time at QMHA and this because of how she was treated with Love and Care we parents do. Daisy felt she was at home and looked very happy, smelt absolutely gorgeous too ❤️, I was absolutely amazed of the way she was treated and looked after!!

Well done to Dr Cecilia and her Team. QMHA you ensured to have best team and you have achieved!! Continue with the absolute great work and we thank you all for looking after our pet babies.

My dog Shamus had a hip replacement in his right hip. This was conducted by Rebekah Knight and her team. I could not have been more impressed with the professionalism, the care Shamus received and the support we got. They treated Shamus like gold, and we were supported every step of the way.
The level of expertise was second to none, and I really felt they did everything possible to give full care to Shamus while he was in their care.
I am so grateful to Rebekah, her team and the wonderful kennel staff. ♥️

We had a fantastic experience with the RBV and our dog. She had to have lots of tests, MRI, lumbar puncture. RVC were cheaper than most places by almost half and the care was exceptional. The vet students and senior staff all are caring and have excellent knowledge. I appreciated the senior vet, Daniel Ryan, taking time to call us in the evening to update us on her progress and keeping the door open for future conversations if we need to. Very grateful to the entire team. From first call to reception to leaving, all staff were kind and supportive.

Thoroughly recommend the RVC Queen Mother, they saved my darling little boy after my vet wanted to PTS as they said he probably had cancer of the kidneys and liver.
He was an inpatient for 3 weeks. I wasn't allowed to visit but the lovely staff rang me twice a day with updates.
He has Type 1 diabetes and Pancreatitis.
A year later and I still have my furbaby who's running around and playing with my other 2 rescues.
Everyone there was caring, efficient.

My dog mini was referred with a limp. The orthopedic lady Anna was amazing. She took the time to check her over very thoroughly ( even though mini can be very grumpy) and explained everything clearly. Such a lovely, kind and patient vet. Very happy with the service i received. All the staff i spoke to were very kind and patient too. A huge thank you!! Sandra Hooper.
