I attended the A and E dept with a hand injury, I was sent to an adjacent unit and was seen and treated within an hour. Everyone l encountered that evening was kind, compassionate and professional. The most friendly and nicest people you could wish to meet. A big thank you to our brilliant NHS.

5 stars review. The staff was amazing and reacted quickly. My son recently had a seizure and was taken by ambulance to royale Derby hospital to the children’s emergency department and the doctor Jess Green reacted immediately including other staff and took my son for 2 blood tests and was told he can go home. Before they allowed him to go home they put wires on his chest to see if everything was alright with his heart. One again many thanks but I am still waiting for my sons MRI scan letter. And to have wires put in his head letter. Thank you for saving my son’s life.

A lot of the nurses were fantastic and did their best. But unfortunately my mum was often neglected and not listened to, nothing was explained to her, nothing was looked into as a result of her saying she couldn't eat or function. So she was left without food basically.

That made an unfortunate impact and added to the decline of her health.

But to the nurses that made that extra effort to comfort her and actually sit and talk to her, a huge thank you! It only took that one nurse to explain things and look onto solutions as to why she couldn't eat. That was a huge help. I can't thank you enough.

In the end the best care was just at home with her family.

I cannot believe the state of the toilets, the one downstairs in the main entrance is always dirty and seems not to be cleaned regularly all day and night. The disabled toilet upstairs opposite the restaurant always has overflowing bins. I have noted that weekends are worse. The hospital requires to ensure that there are cleaning staff all day and night 7 days a week. Toilets should be cleaned hourly without fail. I wish I had taken photos, and I will ensure I do next time.

I was diagnosed with a tear on my retina . My optician emailed the hospital immediately. The Royal rang me and I got an appointment the next morning. I was seen very quickly by various professionals . I was told be there for 9am and had laser surgery and out by 10.15. I am so grateful I was seen so quickly. Thank you to all

This hospital is failing in all departments especially with child birth. Also several family members and friends have gone in and been told they either need an operation or emergency operation to then chasing their tone and sending them home on morphine.... somthing definitely wrong. We know several mothers who have had children here and they where so un happy.

Fantastic hospital, visited multiple times but mostly around when my father broke his Ulna, the staff is brilliant in every department very helpful and kind. Very organized and knowledgeable too.

My mother in law, Brenda Beirne spent 3 weeks on 401 in January 2025. We cannot fault the care, kindness and treatment she received. We were amazed, after all the bad press that the NHS and hospitals get, to see how well she was cared for and enjoyed seeing her everyday in beautiful clean bed linen. Special mention must be made of Dawn, who showed Brenda such kindness, even when she wasn't assigned to her, and also the young junior lady doctor, looking after Brenda, who always found time to talk to us.
