Just got home from the delivery of our first baby after 3 days here. Don't usually leave reviews but the quality and care from all staff over that time has been outstanding. If I could give the facilities and staff a 6 stars instead of 5 I would. They have made the whole experience fantastic. Yes the parking at this time is shocking. But I would gladly walk as far as needed if it meant not going anywhere else. Best hospital and staff I've been to hands down. And I've been to a few. Deserve a medal from the ward staff to the surgeons and dinner ladies and midwifes. Very well run and disciplined. If choose this place over any other NW hospital by far.

I honestly can’t praise the staff enough in Rainbow Ward. We’ve experienced many hospitals with my 16 year old disabled son and hands down this has been the best hospital experience yet! The ward is fantastic with such amazing facilities for the children and the staff are genuinely lovely, caring people! Super impressed with how quick the discharge was too, I really can’t thank you all enough!

Went to the Patient Investigation Unit yesterday for a procedure. Nursing at its best ! Every single one of the staff was very friendly and couldn't do enough for everyone. I was constantly being asked did I want a drink. The place was so busy but everyone had time for me. Well done PIU.

A &E absolutely dire. Parking is an absolute nightmare. The staff, in general, are doing their best but communication is non existent. An elderly relative, 81 next month, was taken in by ambulance after a fall and I was called in. Every time I asked what was happening I felt I was being a nuisance. I wanted an update from a doctor but, despite one sitting in front of me, I was told no-one was available.
The only good thing was that she was in a bay rather than a corridor as she was having tests.

I attended A&E this morning at 11.45am after being told to do so by my GP.
I had an infection in my left hand which had spread into my wrist and fingers.
After a quick and efficient booking in at reception I was told to go to the Urgent Medical Care Centre a few yards away.
There I was met by Daniel and his colleagues who promptly dealt with my situation.
After the initial blood pressure reading and samples of blood taken, I was put on a drip of Clarithromycin.
Finally I was taken off the drip and given a prescription for 7 day's supply of Clarithromycin.
Everything was fine with my blood test and I left the Centre at approximately 14.45pm.
Overall it had been a most thorough, friendly and professional experience and all the staff at the Urgent Medical Centre are to be commended for their excellent work.
Thank you.

I would not recommend to go here. They do not help you with anything rather than giving you paracetamol and making you wait HOURS. I went there on Thursday and stayed 3 days just waiting in the waiting room..which tend to mention it’s very cold and very uncomfortable. We waited 3 days to be able to be seen by the doctors and be given at least a treatment. Nothing. Some of the nurses have a very bad attitude for no reason at all. And we were going to ask how long it will take for us to be seen by the doctor they were coming up with the excuse of saying “some people have waited 50 hours” which first of all..that’s not something to be proud about. Never going back there again and do not recommend unless you want to lose time.

First of all I would not even give this one start, it would be -5 at how bad the experience at this place was. Starting with the attitude of the nurses which was completely unprofessional. No doctors were coming to see us. We waited in the waiting room for 72 HOURS!! It was so cold and when we were saying something about it…they were coming up with the excuse of “what do you want me to do about it”. There were older people staying that long with us and they were poorly treated by the stuff. To be honest some of the nurses were nice but only a 15% of them. Worst experience ever. I would never ever go back there again. I would never even recommend to my enemies to go at that place. The lady at the reception was also having attitude and having sarcastic answers when we were asking normal question..not to mention she wrote my name wrong and they were calling the wrong name the entire time. (I showed them my documents where they clearly saw how my name was actually supposed to be written). DO NOT GO!!! Worst treatment ever. IF YOU DONT LIKE YOUR JOB, QUIT.

I don’t know if I should applaud or criticise. I get that the NHS is under pressure but I honestly can’t give the hospital praise.
Putting my 12.5 hour visit to A&E to one side which was a saga on it’s own I then had to have a follow up appointment then a surgery referral. The information I was given from Wigan is out of date. I was told to ring admissions at Wrightington on Sunday evening about my Monday surgery schedule. I later find out that there’s no one there on Sunday. Next pre op. An awful experience. The staff nurse refused to answer any questions and I felt it was more of a box ticking exercise with only yes or no answers allowed. I’m sorry but this holy grail of public services is totally rubbish and if it was a private service it would have no customers.
