I am utterly shocked at the performance of this surgery, from reception to consultation. If you are very lucky you may get that one member of staff who genuinely cares, which may be why there are the odd 1 or 2 good reviews. You may expect this to be my surgery it's not! I was an emergency appointment from another practice, thid is not my first appointment here. I hope it is the last! I was born into this world by Dr Rose himself as were my siblings & i continued under his care until I was 18. He retired the new surgery was buit! I imagine that man would not delight in the fact that his legacy is now the largest practice in Gloucester but in fact turn his grave. It was a family practice & this had meaning, the staff were thorough, they cared, were considerate, they made you feel heard and that you & your health concerns were important. Reception staff were dignified, discreet and diligent and all were confidential.
I would be interested to actually see or hear the stories or performance ratings regarding consultations and interactions with all members here.
On arrival to my appointment my initial thought, it just seemed unclean, not fresh, there was a larger lady sat on reception, as I could not use the booking-in computer (it wouldn't allow) i walked inside, before i go to the counter she called over to me, not good practice or training! A smile and gesture would have sufficed i was looking directly at her after all. Next regimental questions. Explained I had an appointment could not use the login computer. She didn't interact or respond with a smile or reassurance. While this was going on I noticed a man slouched on the next chair along swinging from side to side watching my induction, like he was watching tv, just without the popcorn! I have to express how uncomfotable unprofessional and sterile this was, I felt like I was at the bus station! This is the gateway to our care givers, I wasn't holding out much hope at this point, if they couldn't care how their reception staff meet & greet patients what was to be expected of them! I know there are practice saff that take care of the employing and training of staff!!. The lady pointed over to her left towards chairs and indicated I take a seat. There was a member of staff updating a board in the waiting area. Silently done, there were junior school age children in the back ground kicking a plastic object and running over bouncing on chairs. I have four children! I know they were playing & luckily it wasn't busy, there needs to be a level of understanding what is acceptable. There really didnt seem to be anything there to occupy them while they waited.
The other employee went behind the counter & asked the man to move out of her chair. He then sat on the desk at the side of her, talking with both ladies, on his phone and showing them pictures or something, it was then I noticed the word student on the back of his top. Oh please! this isn't a potential future GP surely!
I was called & got up, she turned her back away and walked forward held the door, she glanced over her shoulder I was close enough she let the door go! Has no idea why I'm here! Walks off like she was in Londons walking marathon, I just recall staring down at her brown boots & following them. I already felt she was probably going to be abrupt or short! She arrived at the consultation room and looked back at me, Almost like c'mon whats taking you so long! From then I felt like a factory piece, all regimental questions, not once did she look at my medical history, to be aware of anything! I felt like she examined the shell but didn't shake to see if anything else was broken! It was all rushed she obviously didn't want to be there. I can honestly say being ill it's the first time I couldn't wait to get away from a GP practice.
My sister is still at their practice and has been her whole life, she has some absolute horror stories. I think should have been taken further. I may make a blog for the peoples voices. I cannot say what the other practices are like this was stroud road Gloucester.
