It was Always Heartbreaking putting my Dad into Respite until I found Rivilen. My Dad was a Fisherman and from the very first time I took him, the staff welcomed him and knew his nickname from his fishing days, instantly making him feel relaxed This was not information given, this was staff going out thier way to understand and welcome ther patient.
From that Day (3yrs ago) I will never consider anywhere else. The Staff are Above and Beyond, My Dad is now 91, he doesn't like many peple but the saff here have done nothing other than be Fantastic for my Dad. Not many are Fortunate to find such a place, but I'm lucky to say I have. I can relax when my Dad goes into Respite, I know he is cared For X

Mother has been living at Rivelin over a year now and has clearly been well looked after, well fed, closely monitored for any deterioration in her conditions, and generally cared for to the highest standard. Sharon and her team are undoubtedly expert at the difficult job they have to do and the whole feeling of Rivelin is about caring for the people who live there. It is impressive how all the staff I have encountered treat Mother as the individual she is. Plenty of activities on offer but Mother can be awkward and refuse to take part, but she has always done that!
Dementia is a dreadful condition and it is easy to see how effectively the staff here interact with the residents and support a dignified life for all. If you need a recommendation for a care home look beyond the quaint Victorian façade and sense what a caring environment is provided by the Rivelin Care Home.

My mother resided in this care home for a good long while.
While she was there she recived the up most care and respect from all the team.
The staff team are friendly and will go out of there way for the residents and there family's, nothing is ever too much.
The home is very welcoming and friendly.
The staff show compassion and caring to each and every individual there, it is one big family.
Sharon and the staff team are superb and will do absolutely anything and everything within there power to ensure everyone is safe, comfortable, and happy.
This home is a great choice for anyone wanting care for there loved ones and it's a home from home.
My mother was very happy here, and I know she was treated with kindness and respect, in her final years.
All the staff are dedicated to what they do and the care they give.
I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a home for there relatives.

My husband was cared for at home by myself, until it unfortunately became too much for me trying to care for him around the clock, living with no sleep most nights was taking its toll on my health.

Initially he went into the Rivelin for respite until it was decided both he and myself would benefit from more help 24/7. I visited the Rivelin before he went there, checking out the rooms, dining hall, and facilities available to him to make him feel it was home from home.

The Manager and all staff are very professional at what they do and give what i can only describe as perfect care. Nothing is ever too much for any of them, there are carers constantly around residents giving them all they need, regular snacks, drinks, activities for them to partake in and the food served in the dining room for main meals is of restaurant quality.

When people are giving reviews on here, i hope they realise that the Rivelin is now under New Management, who know what they are doing and what their residents need to make their stay a clean and healthy environment where all they need is given 1,000 fold. I know my husband is safe in there with plenty of food and drinks supplied, in fact at a review the other day he had gained weight as the meals are ample to fill the hungriest resident hahaha of which he is one.

So if you are reading reviews online about this care home, i suggest you visit just like i did, you dont need an appointment as the door is always open for access, just ring the bell and take a look for yourself, there are no hidden agenda's at this care home.

My father is a full time resident at rivelin care home. The staff are amazing with my dad considering his behaviour can be rather challenging at times. All the residents are well looked after and cared for and all the staff are so lovely and friendly. 5*+

After my mum stayed here for respite for 5 days, I would not leave my dog there !!!
Poor levels of care from some staff which is a shame for the good staff
My mother was left wanting the toilet from 7.30am to 11.00am, she requested help from staff a number of times only to be told ' in a minute' every time !!!!
She finally soiled her self and rang us begging for us to take her home.
We rang her at 12.00 noon to tell her we were on our way and she informed us she was still sat in her soiled underwear !!!!!
We complained to the manager who said she would look in to it with no results !!!
My mother ended her days at home suffering with sores on her bottom due to this so called CARE home
I use the word CARE HOME very loosely !!!!
Find another care home if you really love your reletivre

Yes I have seen the letter in which you stated that your carers all stated my mother never ask any of them for help !!! Which is a total lie ! My mother was of Capacity Which means she had NO mental health issues !
Also when we visited my mother, on many occasions residents were asking for help to the toilet in which the replys from your staff was mostly "in a minute" and were left to repeat there requests !!!!
So don't tell me your a caring home !!!!
You cannot bring back my DEAD mother's dignety !!!!!

It is now just over 3 years since my wife was lucky enough to secure a place at the Rivelin Care Home. Since being there, she has gone from strength to strength and is barely recognisable from the woman three years ago. I put this down to the excellent care and dedication, lovingly administered by Sharon and her magnificent staff. Everything is willingly quickly and efficiently done which brings me to an "over and above the call" etc etc....On the 7th Feb. I received an official document from Sharon, informing me of a forthcoming meeting scheduled for the 14th . I asked around as to the nature of the meet and what was on the agenda, but I was met with a wall of silence....all types of doomladen scenarios sprang to mind....my wife was being moved, the home was closing, the list was awesome.
The day arrived and I was taken into the dining room....WOW!!!! the room was bedecked with love hearts, streamers and balloons, the tables had flowers in vases, champagne flutes were filled with drink, and there at my table was my wife, wearing an evening dress and her shining face with her favourite make-up looked up to me as she offered me a single rose.
I have never been so emotionally drained or near to tears as I was then.
Then came the meal, absolutely wonderful, it would have done Gordon Ramsay proud. The entire event was a really unforgetable and unexpected experience. This was due entirely to Sharon and her incredible staff in organising this great surprise....and how on earth over 30 people at the care home managed to keep tight lipped for so long is down to the discipline and pride they all have in ensuring that the Rivelin Care Home is one in a million
I sincerely hopes this review helps anyone who is facing the dilemma of choosing a place for a loved, a decision that now is easier to reach

Shocking level of care, we visited our relative on his 1st day unannounced to find him alone in a front room with 4 other residents , soiled ,calling for someone, not a member of staff in sight. He never should of been left unattended, the place stinks and the staff sparce. Needless to say we removed him the same day ! Awful care
