Been coming here for 30 years and while it's always looked a little run down in places Leengate and the Treatment centre have always looked immaculate and I have had nothing but good experiences. The main hospital however has always been useless. The parking is horrendous as well. I had an appointment at 16:50. I arrived at 16:00 and couldn't find a parking spot for an hour before I gave up and went home. I tried ringing the x-ray department during this time to inform them I'd be late but low and behold the phone lines for them closed at 16:00. So in their infinite wisdom they don't think it's a good idea to have someone manning the phones even though there's appointments still going on. I then tried the switchboard to see if they knew a way to contact the x-ray department. I was waiting for 15mins to speak to someone, all while driving in circles around the hospital looking for parking, I gave up and went home. Not only has this happened before so I left plenty of time, but I missed my grandmothers final moments last year for this exact reason as well.

The staff are all friendly and are doing the best with what they have. This place needs millions investing into it.

I am writing this review on behalf of my mam Mary Plummer. Over the past 4 weeks we have visited the eye casualty 4 times. Each time the experience has been incredible. All of the staff are so attentive to my 93 year old mam, Drs nurses and reception.

I have to single out two amazing people, A Khan and Lavelle Bennett. They are so friendly and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. They chat to my mam and all other visitors to put them at ease and make sure they feel welcome.

They come from behind the desk, to ensure you get the right seating so that you can sit together.

My mam was unwell, whilst she was visiting yesterday. She was there for problems with her eyes. However, the Dr arranged for her to have her blood pressure taken temperature and blood sugar done, which was nothing to do with why she was actually there. It was just because she was unwell and feeling dizzy.

We were there longer than anticipated, due to my mam being unwell. Lavelle called ahead to my mams care home Beeston Rise, asked them to save her dinner and explained that she needed checking out when she got there as she had been unwell at the hospital.

On another occasion that we visited a couple of weeks ago, my mam was feeling cold. A Khan from reception, went and found a blanket for her.

I can't fault the whole department.

When we were leaving, we got lost and one of the porters took us to the lift and showed us how to get to the tram. He realised as we were walking past that we were lost and offered his help.

Well done NHS

QMC Anticoagulation dept; feels like money is sloshing around so much that they are finding work for their staff, and this is at the expense of patient choice. My experience illustrated how the NHS find additional ways of spending money. In my case they now DEMAND that I attend every year so that they can watch me prick the end of my finger and dib the blood onto the end of a stick. If I don't do this, they will withdraw my Warfarin therapy.
Context: I have to take warfarin to reduce risk of stroke. The periodic blood tests were too much for me so I bought an NHS approved device, at my own expense, which requires just a fingerprick to test my blood. It couldn't be more simple. But according to the QMC Haematology Dept, I have to put aside the best part of a day, just to show that I can wash my hands properly and prick the end of my finger, just like I did 12 months ago, and will have to every 12 months until I pass away. A requirement which is so important, that we didn't need to do it for 4 years post covid. It is clear that they have so little to do, that my time was taken up with them 'just checking' that my date of birth hadn't changed. Just checking that my phone number hadn't changed. Just checking that my GP was the same. Just checking that the results recorded on my device. This entire visit was not about my healthcare. No tests were done that I can't do from the comfort of my home. This was all about getting me, the patient, to ruin my day, so that the anticoagulation dept could tick boxes, to say that they had checked that I am able to prick my finger and dab it onto a slide. And to make matters worse, to the point of really angering me today, someone claiming to be in charge of that dept decided to phone and tell me that I had 'signed an agreement' to undergo this insult every year, and that if I didn't comply with her demands, they would withdraw treatment. They told me repeatedly that they are a nurse based service, completely missing the point that they are a patient based service. And to help clarify this for your head of dept., my phone number is for you to use regarding my health care, not for you to call me because you have read my review on 'Care Opinion' and feel you can bully me into complying with your terms. I felt like I had entered a dystopian reality, with reflections of people being threatened if they didn't take the covid inoculations. And you even then had the temerity to contact my GP and tell him that if I didn't attend my assessment IN A YEAR'S TIME, you would withdraw support altogether. The awful experience I have had, the total lack of patient focus, stems from the head of this dept. (35 members of staff I think I counted on their 'know your team' board - no wonder they are looking for things to do)
I can find no researched evidence online that suggests that assessments need to be yearly. 'Some' patients struggling to operate their devices correctly, and 'some' devices not being accurate is not justification for harassing all patients. If I choose not to have a flu vaccine, my GP does not withdraw all treatment. My aggressive phone caller is not acting correctly by threatening to withdraw treatment because a patient makes their own decisions about what they want. Well I am sorry that you feel that patients are here to serve you. I am sorry that you feel unable to respect patient choice. And I am sorry that your nursing role has lead you to believe that you can bully patients into dancing to your tune, for fear of total treatment withdrawal. I am sorry that you think that once patients enter into an agreement, then you have got them by the short and curlies, even when they realise that their attendance is not about their health care, but are actually finding additional work to do so that you can expand your dept and justify a higher grade. I bet I'm not far off the mark here. I think this speaks more about the bloated coffers of the NHS that you think that such a heavy handed approach to such a simple task is proportionate.

After a horrible long wait with my 95 year old mum on a trolley in a corridor in December after she had a fall..... we made it to A&E. EVERYONE was attentive to her and myself although they were obviously so very busy. She had several x-rays with patient kind wonderful staff. She was moved to ward B49 where again all staff were kind and so lovely with my frail mum. The doctor was especially caring.
She was moved to a bed in ward D58. Again the staff were caring and vigilant. Aways keeping an eye out for those who needed help. Plenty of staff who were always available.
Thank you to everyone who have helped to look after my frail old mum. She has now been with you for over eight weeks and although we try to visit each day we are confident that she is being cared for and well looked after when we're not there.

yesterday i sat in a&3 for over 16 hours just to be discharged with anti sickness tablets, i am 6 weeks pregnant and for the last 3 days i haven’t been able to eat a single bite of food or drink hardly any fluids due to sickness. i have only now been given fluids since being here from about 1oclock in the afternoon. sat here currently with fluids in my arm and been told after this i am going home, is this not a huge medical concern? it is now wednesday night at 23:25 and i haven’t been able to hold any food in my stomach since midday sunday! i also have only passed urine once in the 10 hours i’ve been here due to severe dehydration. the healthcare system is failing miserably, they have no care or consideration for my health it’s disgusting

Rang 111 Saturday evening, after speaking with them we were told we would get a call back within 45 minutes, actually got a call back within less than half an hour. Very professional, was advised to go to the adult treatment centre at QMC, after arriving there went straight to receptio n to give details, also very professional. Within 5 minutes we were called to triage. All the staff behind the scenes with whom we saw and dealt with could not have been more professional kind and efficient all the staff and team that handled the situation were absolutely brilliant and outstanding, our up most respect to all that helped.
It was my mother in law, Marlene Miles that had the best care we could ever have hoped for.
A huge thank you to you all.

Wouldn’t recommend giving birth to your baby here, no communication for 3 days about our baby, but one lovely midwife called Michelle bless her helped us and got the information we were looking for 2 days and asking 4 times in one day with no reply at all, we are complaining about it, and things changing without letting the parents know until last second and it’s stress when your new born baby is poorly, different midwife’s came and said she wasn’t unwell when she clearly is, and the nice ones agreed with us, but there is a odd few RUDE!!! Midwife’s and some staff, my wife was poorly after birth not told nothing and the midwife’s will look after her and feed her , then without warning 2 hours later our baby was bought back, but still poorly, very disappointed, this made me and my
Wife very very stressed and emotional all night, I can’t stress enough!!! GO CENTRAL NOTTINGHAM HOSPITAL!!!!
