My dad was a patient here 6 year's ago. At the time, I couldn't face putting a comment here as it reminded me of the loss .
This came up in my timeline.
I would just like to say what an amazing, caring atmosphere and staff are. There was no rushing you out the door when you came to visit. I would travel from North Yorkshire and was made to feel welcome. Staff were very dedicated in what they did.
The only thing I would change is the parking.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you each and every one of the staff.

Everyone involved in my surgery was so lovely and reassuring, from the receptionist to the porter, from the anaesthetist to my surgeon - I was always kept informed of what was going to happen next. They are amazing!

Bright, friendly and informative place for treating a range of Cancers.

Good care and support for users and their families.

Abt 3 hours - first pre-scan, orientation and no questions stupid sessions for a family member and myself as family. Oodles of time to explore, go through what's happening and to ask questions.

Staff - informative, each checks what you know and happy to repeat.

Main Entrance Foyer includes:

~ Cafe
~ Health Centre for relaxation, chat and drinks
~ Information, leaflets and MacMillan Nurses
~ Patient Services (Free Humber Bridge Tickets and range of Car Parking Tickets) - get the paperwork from your Ward or Clinic and take them to Patient Services.

Quiet Room - on the main corridor from the Entrance Hall

Accessibility - good, wide corridors, lifts and stairs. Some double doors open out and are a little heavy, but soft close. Usually someone there to help.

Car Parking - drop off point, busy and limited free parking close to the Centre. See Patient Services for saver passes weekly - £10 or Monthly £20, or free to those on benefits (bring proof) 2018. Parking elsewhere but can be busy.

Refreshments (Clinic) are free, mornings only,. Beverage and Snack Machines (pay), water coolers and cordial (free).

The Queens Centre for Oncology in my opinion is a centre of excellence.
It has terrific staff from cleaners through to highest ranked consultants.
The dedication and professionalism is of the highest standard.
I have been attending for almost 2 years and although sadly the number of patients requiring various types of treatment runs into to hundreds each day you are treated with the utmost care and attention and remarkably on an individual basis too.
This area of the country is extremely lucky to have such a centre and dedicated staff.
I and I'm sure every one that needs to attend the centre would like to thank each and everyone that works there unwavering professionalism of the highest of standard.

I feel I have to write this review after only being here 10 minutes. On reception at radiotherapy myself and my mum was greeted with a gentleman at reception called John. He has the most beautiful character I have ever seen. He new patients by their first name on arrival and greeted everyone with a smile. He made my mum feel so at ease as this was her first visit. As an NHS employee I understand the pressures we are all under but I can't praise John enough. Your a credit to the trust .

Update... So, after the after what was a bad experience on day one of five consecutive visits, it was the only day where it went wrong, every other days seemed organised, fair and balanced... So I have increased my rating from 2* to an almost perfect 4*.

Where to start. So many good reviews and so much promise but let down by poor management and queue jumping.
You are given an appointment time and told to be there 10 minutes early.
Arrive just after 8am and finally seen almost two hours after the appointment time. Queue jumping makes it more of a free for all but management would be quick to tell you what they think if you are late.
Patient services... Lunch 12-1. Fair enough, we all deserve some lunch, but come 2pm, don't get grumpy because you left the office, only to return and find you have a patient who would like some help. Maybe you are in the wrong job or just forgot where you were?
The car park is full quickly, with the selfish abandoning in the drop-off bay for more than would be reasonably acceptable and some blocking access on double red lines. Maybe if staff could process those waiting, people would be out quicker and more space for those trying to park as close as possible to the entrance doors.
This is only day two and with more to come, I can see why the NHS and society continues to struggle.
I must say though, what a lovely building and it is kept very clean.

Finished my treatment five months ago now and haven't forgotten any of the lovely McMillan nurses, radiotherapy staff, drs or consultants. Every one of them are a credit to their profession. A very big thank you to them all.
