I woke early in the morning with chest pains, but ignored them as the pain in my knee was worse(waiting on knee surgery) I had a pre med at the local hospital prior to my op which was scheduled later that week. A nurse carried out an ECG, she said there was a little abnormality but said it wasn’t a concern and I left the hospital. I returned home and decided to call Dr Yick at the surgery, who asked me to scan him a copy of the ECG. He reviewed it immediately whist I was on the phone and told me I must go to hospital straight away. I did as Dr Yick said, I arrived at A&E who immediately carried out further tests and told me I was having a heart attack. I was taken up to theatre and had two stents inserted. I am now feeling much better. I wanted to express my gratitude to Dr Yick and the team for the quick response and advice, which I’m sure aided my full recovery. Thank you Michael White

I’ve lived in the village 6 months and needed the surgery 3 times for referrals regarding breast cancer and a separate unrelated appointment. There has been a mistake every time, including being referred to the wrong breast clinic and wasted trips to the main hospital only to be sent home again. Zero confidence in this surgery. Will be going private in future so at least that’s one less patient for them to have to deal with.

Registering with this surgery after moving to the area was one of the best decisions I’ve made. After a diabolical experience at my previous surgery, Quantock Vale have restored my faith. Dr Yick is fantastic and I’ve always spoken to polite and helpful receptionists on the phone or in person. Thank you!

Telephoned the surgery today and received a telephone consultation within 2hrs. Fabulous option as I didn't actually feel well enough to go out! Receptionist was knowledgeable and took my concerns seriously offering me the option of 3 different medics. The Practice Nurse was, as always, fabulous too during my consultation treating my symptoms and listening to my individual needs. Tablets then collected for me within 3 hours and one antibiotic in and I am a different person already. I can breathe without screaming with ear pain and sinus pain and I can finally see a light at the end of the brutal Covid tunnel I've been in for the last few weeks. Please pass my thanks on to all. We are so blessed to have you as our surgery team.

Used to be signed up to Quantock Vale Surgery. Admittedly probably 10 years ago, but the same doctors that "treated me" are still there. I was in my early 20s at the time. Went with a lump. It was diagnosed as a wart. It was treated, repeatedly as a wart. I was "too young" for it to be anything else. In the end I moved house, signed up to a new doctors. Booked myself in for "wart" freezing. The first time I went to the doctors, they knew something was wrong. Long story short, after a biopsy, turns out I had skin cancer. And if it had been left long term, it could have spread and been a very serious outcome. Moving house literally saved my life. I'm now back living back in the area and will never sign up for Quantock Vale. The attitude of "you're too young so it cant be that" is antiquated and reading others reviews on here, it's concerning how many people they have failed with serious conditions. This place needs to be investigated or shut down.

Went about a pain in my upper rib cage and enlarged area in my breast (Jan 2017) and not offered a referral, told it was "glandular:"Almost 3 years on I have now moved to another county and have reported the same symptoms in the same area. This time I have been referred straightaway by the new GP for a mammogram. Am currently awaiting the results of a biopsy to check for breast cancer. Some of the doctors at this surgery dismiss patients' concerns too readily and do not investigate or refer when appropriate.

Update - October 21 - the biopsy did confirm a very aggressive invasive breast cancer which has required 18 months treatment of chemo, surgery and radiotherapy that would not have been needed if my previous GP had granted the referral. Thankfully it had not spread anywhere else but in the words of my surgeon had I not moved I would have "most likely be dead" within a year!! Shocking standard of care from a GP who is apparently the lead on women's health for the practice- thanks for nothing Quantock Vale Surgery!

I had been having back pain for a while so booked an appointment for my GP i was given an appointment for a weeks time, the receptionists where supportive, helpful and friendly and i was surprised at the short waiting time. Dr Yick took my concerns seriously and made me feel at ease as i was nervous for my first appointment unaccompanied by my parents he referred me to have an x-ray and have been having physio and all is going well. i feel very lucky to belong to such a good surgery!

When we moved back to Somerset from Cornwall where the healthcare was shocking we thought we had struck gold. My wife has some medical conditions that we not adequately dealt with in Cornwall and after initial good service and attention everything has gone backwards. Dr. Yick is the only doctor who my wife has any confidence in but trying to see him is nigh impossible - 2 weeks waiting time for a TELEPHONE appointment. The other male doctor has no 'bedside' manner and is abrupt when speaking to him. Lost my vote of confidence
