Appalling service. My partner is a patient with the Priory and at first there were considerable waits to get an appointment, but he went ahead because it was still quicker than using the NHS. It was an obvious diagnosis for his condition and he was prescribed medication, however since then it has been impossible to make contact with the psychiatrist.

He was put on a Shared Care agreement so every 6 months the Priory should contact him for a review and the write to the Gp who then provides the prescription. There have been shortages of the medication recently so my partner is suffering significantly and we have tried phoning, leaving messages and emailing the psychiatrist, his secretary and the general Priory contact and we are unable to speak to someone to try and change the medication to an alternative or a different brand which is available, or get some other help. The Gp has now been writing to the Priory because they need confirmation before providing a prescription and they are receiving no response. Each 6 months when there is a review of the medication my partner pays hundreds of pounds for a 5 minute conversation and a prescription, but now he cannot get his medication even when it is available from the pharmacy.

Another issue was that after we moved house he asked to change our address on the Priory system multiple times because they kept sending his private, sensitive medical reports to our old address. Also there were several occasions when the secretary made mistakes, which the psychiatrist blamed on my partner and his condition. This made him feel awful so I checked the emails and confirmed that it was the secretary’s mistake, and not his. He is always polite and passive. One would think a psychiatrist and the staff would be sensitive and understanding towards those with mental health issues who are looking for help.

My partner has paid the Priory a lot of money over the last few years to help his mental health issues and allow him to work and live his life, and yet he is left struggling and feeling suicidal due to the lack of care or even a simple response from the staff.

I wouldn't waste your time here. I spoke to one of the Dr for an ADHD assessment and was told his secretary Amie would get back to me to book the main assessment and never heard back , iv since gone to another provider. Very poor service

I was an inpatient at the Priory Altrincham in January 2023. I received outstanding care and support to help me on the path to recovery. I can not thank the Therapy staff enough for their absolute care and compassion at one of the most vulnerable periods of my adult life. The Medical and Nursing teams with their careful and personalised treatment and care helped me to physically recover and prepare me for the work I needed to do.
Accepting my addiction to alcohol had been hard and almost cost me my life and my family their Wife and Mum. With the work they put in and the continued support of the past 12 months I am enjoying life in a way I never thought I would again. My family are recovering and are happy. What more could I ask for. Thank you so much. Lots of love Sue. Xx

My therapist, Ceila, has transformed my life with our sessions. I felt instantly comfortable and relaxed with Celia, as she has a warm, friendly and caring nature which shines through. The style of Ceila's sessions enabled me to open up about things I had never spoke about, and feelings I had buried deep inside. Each session had a breakthrough moment that helped me see things in a different light. I was sceptical whether therapy over Zoom would help me, but it is easily one of the best decisions I have ever made. This is down to Ceila, and I would highly recommend anyone thinking about talk therapy to go for it. I can't praise Celia highly enough for the way she has made my life and relationships better. Thank you Celia and Priory Group.

I have been seeing Kevin Tait at the priory altrincham for the past 7 months for DBT PE protocol therapy. I have been in therapy for 6 years and have come further in the past 7 months than i did in the previous years. I am now ready for discharge after thinking I would never be stable enough to leave. He is professional, approachable and non-judgement. Kevin always made me feel at ease and there was an equal balance in the therapeutic relationship, which was nice to experience, after finding it hard to open up to previous therapists. He is a highly experienced DBT therapist and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Fantastic place! I cannot thank the priory enough for their help and support with my mum. She was previously undergoing NHS care for her depression and severe and anxiety. If we hadn’t have been lucky enough to be able to go through private care, I don’t know where we’d be. My mum sat for hours a day in a hospital bed with only a corridor or a paved patio to look at all day. She was not offered one single therapy session to help her get back to normal life. Her minor depression which had stemmed from her anxiety sloped and she became more and more depressed, as would anyone having to live in such conditions. Different medication from different doctors for 6 weeks made her condition worse and worse. Nothing worked. She was given 3 diazapam per day and the hospital would try to tell me she was getting better but I knew as soon as the diazapam wore off, she would be back to her anxious self. I couldn’t get a straight answer from anyone, even when I asked what tablets she was on they couldn’t tell me. My mum was a different person after being in The Priory 6 weeks. She had gone from having minor anxiety to having tried 6 different tablets, being told she was psychotic and given antipsychotic drugs, diazapam 3 times a day, leading to her hallucinating, being awake 24 hours a day unable to sleep (even on strong sleeping pills) , unable to go to a shop, unable to cook a meal, unable to socialise, unable to even make a slice of toast. She lost her business. After 6 weeks we got her into a Priory hospital where she was taken off all medication given to her through the NHS immediately. She was put on a single 0.25 mg dose of a new anti depressant and was given a private hospital room with 1-1 intensive therapy and rehabilitation classes and yoga and meditation sessions. Within 14 days she was back to normal. She now lives a normal life, on one single tablet. She was never psychotic, never needed to be trapped in a hospital bed for 24 hours a day. She has her business back up and running, she shops, she enjoys cooking, she sleeps all night. She is normal. She has no anxiety what so ever like before. Absolutely life changing and I cannot thank the team enough!

This hospital lacks communication between departments and lacks any sense of responsibility for making things run as smoothly as possible. I have spent countless phone calls initially trying to get my child into see a consultant. Was told different version of where he could go and how quickly he could be seen. Finally he gets to see a consultant. All well I thought until I call the insurance company to find out they are still waiting for a medical report and treatment plan.
So my son has started therapy but the insurance company have not received the treatment plan so I could end up paying the bill.!!!!!
I left 5 messages regarding this and no one has got back to me. I rang today to be told there is no treatment plan or medical report on their files yet my son has started therapy.....
The only person who has made any sense at all is Sam who is a temp and obviously only learning .
If you get a choice of where you go for therapy, forget this place because you will end up chasing your own tail. I can't even get to talk to someone in charge. It's a disgrace considering this place deals with mental health.
