Monday night a&E showed truly a level of care matched but nothing else. The kindness and friendliness shown when they were over run was the reason we all clapped during Covid. The surgical ward and the day surgery again amazing level of care and nothing is too much trouble and a hospital to be proud of. Making every scary moment feel a little less scary.

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the care I received at Princess Royal University Hospital's Emergency Department on 10.11.2024 from 20:00 until 2:00 AM the following day. My experience was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing, and I feel compelled to bring my concerns to your attention.
Upon my arrival, I was expecting to receive prompt medical attention, as I was in significant discomfort. However, I found the staff to be shockingly slow and disorganized. The medical professionals seemed to be moving between patients at an unnervingly leisurely pace, as though they were on a casual walk in the park rather than working in a busy emergency department. This lack of urgency only added to my distress.
Over the course of my visit, I was examined by four different doctors, all of whom asked me the same questions repeatedly. Why was this necessary? I noticed that every doctor was entering my information into the system, so it was clear they had access to my medical history and the answers to previous questions. This repetitive questioning not only felt wasteful but also confusing, as I began to wonder whether the hospital’s systems were not properly integrated, or if there was simply a lack of coordination among the medical staff.
The most concerning aspect of my visit, however, was the complete lack of communication between the doctors. One doctor suggested a potential diagnosis, while another quickly dismissed it, claiming that it was unlikely to be the case. At no point did I feel that the team was working together to reach a clear and coherent understanding of my condition. I understand that medical diagnoses can be complex, but this felt more like an "opinion center" than an emergency department designed to provide timely and accurate care.
After spending over four hours in the emergency room, I was told that my issue was not considered an "emergency" and that the doctors were unable to determine what the problem was. I left feeling confused, exhausted, and even more unwell than when I arrived. The entire experience was frustrating and left me questioning the competence and organization of the hospital.
As someone who sought emergency care, I expected more than just a series of conflicting opinions and unnecessary delays. I hope that you take this feedback seriously and work to improve both the efficiency and communication within your emergency department.

Went in to A&E with my 6 year old son and ended up leaving, hospital is failing and it’s a matter of time before they have a lot of deaths on there hands. Baby’s waiting 5 hours, multiple people sicking on the floor, no sick bowls, no cups for the drink machines. Awful and really needs reviewing, if there aren’t enough doctors they need more and if there aren’t enough rooms for the doctors they need more rooms then, something must be done

I have just spent 6 nights in the hospital fighting a bad infection. There is a lot that can be said about how chaotic A&E is- and how overcrowded it is- how long you wait to be attended etc
However the key thing I wanted to highlight here is that once admitted the staff that are dealing with you are absolutely amazing- they are working unbelievable long shifts- on their feet the entire time- maintain their professionalism and positivity throughout- and have the patience of saints as they deal with some really challenging characters.
It was an absolute eye opener for me- I am so grateful to everyone working in that hospital- and when I hear about pay increases etc being refused for these people I know completely understand their plight and they deserve to be paid well and treated as best we possibly can for everything they do.

My elderly neighbour attended A&E yesterday after a fall and a bang to the head, the treatment she received was with care and compassion, she was kept overnight for observation and was discharged late this afternoon, after doing extensive tests. We are most grateful for them keeping us updated on her progress and very thank full for the treatment she received.

It isn't easy to post a review that will justify all the challenges faced by hospital staff. My experience was very good. I haven't needed care for many years and with so many shocking stories in mind was truly hesitant about my visit to A&E.
Although all seats were taken in the waiting room I was still seen quite promptly and given the news I needed to be admitted.
I, together with very many patients, had to sit in chairs along stretches of corridor waiting for care/treatment/a bed. It was distressing seeing so many people in need propped up on a variety of chairs many of which were clearly uncomfortable.
I was eventually visited by a porter at one in the morning to say a bed had become available. I was wheeled through corridors lined with worried people.
I was treated well in the ward. There was movement and announcements throughout the night as patients were admitted or moved. Listening to the distress of others either side of you is obviously upsetting.
I think an important point to note is the efficiency of the barcoded patient system. Patient details are on the screen promptly and when you need to go for a scan/treatment the porter staff are incredible. I was taken for a CT scan and an MRI scan on two different days. Both times the porter wheeled me there and back within minutes.
I may well have been one of a lucky few but in this particular case it was clear that most staff were doing their best.
Thank you all.

Had my baby delivered here in the Labour Ward and I was very well taken care of. The midwifes, doctors and nurses are professional and I have learnt a lot during my stay there . Baby and I had to take antibiotic and we were offered a private room which was much appreciated.
