The doctors is a joke! I have severe anxiety and depression i do not leave the house because of this i have tried to get a sick note twice as I have been asked to get one and they keep refusing to give me one and uses the excuse that we don't give out sick notes for this. Which is complete lies

I called in on the 'off Chance' for two immunisation jabs, I was seen immediately. And also discussed a current medical crisis, this was dealt with straightaway with no fuss, I have only been with the surgery for 6days.My previous Doctor would not help with my request for urgent assistance or talk to me ,likewise the hospital. So thank you Portsdown practice, the receptionist was professional and helpful, and the Doctor restored my faith in good old fashioned patient care. Thank you for keeping up the standards the National health service was based on in a time of under investment in health care. Regards Tony Gisby.

I have had excellent service from the staff at this surgery recently.
All the nurses including Jessica Jayne and Tanya, along with Dr Kasumov, have given my first class service. Thank all, for the speedy attentive care. You are all a credit to the surgery.

Wait in a queue above 30, finally get down to 10 and the call cuts off. Call back and then back in a queue above 30 again. I give up. My child is unwell and has a potential ear infection and blocked ear but why bother calling the doctors when there are never any appointments or enough doctors or even enough staff to answer the phones! Rubbish doctors.

Pure garbage and infuriating to deal with.

On the phones, if you select a routine appointment you just get told to phone back "later" and it hangs up

If you want to speak to general enquiries, that's only open 2-4pm and just as difficult to get through on

Tried setting up a profile with their online booking service twice without hearing back.

Basically, unless you're having a medical emergency or nearing death, you've got absolutely no chance of being seen by someone.

terrible service. nobody seems able to get an appointment. Mrs has tried for 3 weeks so far and no luck. This group of surgeries has a very low review score and should be investigated.

If the surgery can see this review, you are playing with peoples lives and could be held accountable legally.

I’ve had some very unpleasant experiences with this surgery in the past and I’m not usually one to write a review but recently I have found that I can’t fault the drs at Portsdown and I’ve had some positive experiences. I’ve been extremely poorly for 3 weeks but I’ve done econsults at 6:30pm twice in that time and been contacted by a dr at 8am by telephone within 2 days of doing the econsult and given the medication I need straight away over the phone. First lot of meds didn’t work for me but that’s not the drs fault and the dr I spoke with today for new meds was lovely, explained everything to me and also told me to contact again if I’m still unwell in a week which I now feel confident in doing as I know the drs will contact me if need be. Dr ozzard is brillant and super helpful, usually when speaking to a dr over the phone I don’t feel heard but he let me explain everything in depth to get a good understanding of what I needed and Dr Nelupha Begum is a super sweet lady, very helpful and understanding and explained a lot to me over the phone that again, usually drs wouldn’t take the time to do. She also phoned me twice as I missed the 1st call. I also had a breast lump not long ago and dr Mosley again was gentle, understanding and reassuring and got me referred to breast clinic straight away. One or two positive experiences can sometimes make up for all of the negative ones. Whilst there’s no denying I’ve had some pretty terrible experiences at this surgery before, I am really grateful for the few drs who have compassion and care for patients and make our experiences that little bit better.

Have been advised to get a blood test but couldn't get an GP appointment with Portsdown Group Practice on this NHS app as none available, so managed to book a Phlebotomist blood test which I attended and took time out of a working day and drove to the appoinment at Cosham Park House only to be told couldn't have the blood test as needed to be referred by GP/ Nurse! Why does the NHS app allow you to book a blood test if this is the case? There should be a warning at least that you have to be referred. Was then told by reception that I have to wait until 7 pm to go back on the NHS app when GP telephone appointments will be made available to be referred for blood test appointment. I set an alarm and tried this but by 7.01pm no appointments were available , so now have to try at 10am on Monday the same process. In the meantime my health issue is not being diagnosed or helped and is being made worse by all the stress. What is being done to address the issues with the lack of appointments? I have just moved to area where lots of new houses are being built, if the system can't cope now then what is going to happen in the future?
