Phoenix House Personnel Recovery Center (PRC) is 1 of 5 centres across the UK specifically built for the rehabilitation of MOD Personnel. Originally built by Help for Hero's from public donations, they are now run by the MOD.

The PRC mission is to prepare Wounded, Injured and Sick (WIS) personnel to transition to civilian life or return to their units to continue their careers.

The staff are a mixture of regular, full time reserve and civilian (mostly ex-mil, some former patients) personnel. All are trained and experienced in supporting WIS residents through their often traumatic journey. The staff are professional, supportive, chatty and ALWAYS willing to go that extra mile.

The building is both private and comfortable including; mindful area, IT suit, gym (which includes injury specific equipment), dinning area (food is superb), games room, TV room and chill out areas.

Each resident is assigned a private room with an ensuite bathroom. As you would expect each room is specifically designed to cater for those with no physical injuries through to those with the most severe needs.

In addition to the activities held within the PRC the staff deliver a wide range of external activities.

All in all Phoenix House and it's staff deliver one of the best support programs I have seen in both the military and civilian worlds. Organisations such as the NHS, Social Care and hospices could do no better than visit the RPC to see how they deliver their service.

The staff are a credit to the services, and those who have gone before.
