Used to be a brilliant surgery. Have been able to stay as legacy patient as had moved out of the area and had been fine for number of years. Since Covid, it has been a constant ongoing battle to get an appointment for a regular injection I require, frequently having to explain this to the reception team. More recently I have been constantly told I am out of area and need to move on, even though as they have previously said to me, they cannot do this as I’m a legacy patient. I’ve had enough of this constant barrage from the reception team who make patients lives hell in my opinion, so much so I have reluctantly decided to move on, even when I have actually just moved close to the surgery again. The doctors and nursing team here are great, but actually trying to see them is a mission and totally controlled by the difficult reception team who do not put patient care first

So, my first ever visit was this morning, I wasn't impressed. The health questions I was asked by them prior to my visit were not taken into account. The Practice nurse I spoke to on the phone about this appointment, was not in work this morning, convenient. I was in dire need of a prescription but I was denied by the nurse who didn't have much time for what I was telling her. I looked quite ill and I felt like death warmed up, still do, this is not what a patient wants to see.

It pains me to say this has now become probably one of the worst run doctor’s surgery in the northwest, if not the country. I have been with the surgery since it opened, by Dr Campbell and prior to her becoming a doctor I was a patient of her father at Blake House.
They both run the surgery’s impeccably over the 56yrs I have had them as my doctor’s, unfortunately since Dr Campbells retirement the place has completely fallen apart.
I personally think the surgery manager is to blame for the chaos.
They have tried unsuccessfully to modernise things without any consideration for the patients (customers). Today I have decided with a heavy heart enough is enough, with the ineptitude and poor attitude of some of the staff, the pointless implementations of systems that just don’t work. It’s time for me to move to a better service.
The surgery really is run like a ship without a rudder, my advice to anyone seeking a doctor’s in the area to avoid pennine medical at all costs.
The place is managed so poorly I’m sure it’s costing people’s lives. The worst thing is that the staff really haven’t a clue how bad the surgery has become under their stewardship.
Dr Campbell would be absolutely ashamed of how all his excellent hard work has been turned into such a shambles.

The Staff at Pennine Medical should hang your heads in shame.

My Advice to the directors of Pennine Medical replace your surgery manager before you are sued for negligence.

Dr Dupar is not fit for purpose I’ve reported him to the medical council because of his unethical behaviour he should be in jail never mind unemployed I’m going through the process of private prosecution at the moment. Dr Dupar is insincere, incompetent and most definitely a danger to the public!!! PLEASE BE VERY AWARE OF THIS INDIVIDUAL!!!!

Been trying to use their ā€˜online form’ to book an appointment for the last 3 weeks. Every time I try to use it, it’s ā€œalready reached capacityā€ and is ā€œclosed for the day.ā€

After phoning them directly, the receptionist said that I can’t even book an advanced appointment for a couple of weeks time and that I have to use the form. Otherwise, I would have to phone 111 or go to to the walk in centre (which I’ve done in the past and 111 don’t want to know unless your having a heart attack and the walk in centres are a labyrinth of horrendous people and 5+hrs of wait times).

How is anyone supposed to receive medical treatment from their GP with a service like this!?

OMG just terrible! It used to be a wonderful practice when the brilliant Dr Campbell was there now it’s atrocious! This online booking system is not fit for purpose you just can’t get an appointment at all and try ringing ha ha ha those receptionist’s are so abrupt and unhelpful telling you you can’t ring for an appointment! You get fobbed off with the nurses(who are lovely) or a pharmacist, how sick do you have to be to see a doctor! Dr Campbell used to see so many people now it’s like the select few who get to see a doctor and the waiting time is so bad! Shocking shocking service!!!

Very helpful, patient and kind receptionists. I never had a problem so far and I always get to see GP the same day for my child and maximum one day or two waiting time for myself. When I'm there, I am always seen by GP on time with only one exception where I waited 30 minutes. I am always listened by drs and prescribed adequate medicines. They are all good, Dr Muthapan, Dr Warrin dr Ashar.... all of them really. That was my experience for months so far.

This practice used to be excellent but not anymore. It is nigh well impossible to get an appointment with a doctor now. Two phone numbers appear to have been disconnected even though they are shown online. I managed to find a third number on an old card and upon trying that, was repeatedly told that I was number 1 in the queue, yet over 10 minutes later I was still waiting for it to be answered! That was at 9a.m. I tried again at 9.40 only to be told that there was now a long queue, but that a receptionist would get back to me when I reached the top of the queue. 40 minutes later I am still waiting! Initially I tried to book online but at 8.25a.m. I was evidently far too late as a message read that the form was now full and to try again tomorrow! Fortunately I am retired, but I can't begin to imagine how working people cope with this system when time is at a premium! I am trying to book an appointment on behalf of my husband who has been told by his dialysis team to go to his GP as he has raised blood sugar levels. The fact is that pre-Covid he had annual checkups for diabetes but has not been seen since! Many of our doctors are lovely but getting to see one these days is a huge problem.

I would give more stars if some of the staff were caring. The online form is a joke, the phone lines get crammed by 8.03 am and doctors who previously saw you on the regular drop you when they can't be bothered anymore. If you have mental health issues, I suggest going to another GP, they are not bothered or call you "too complex." I've no doubt that this is due to the current government and all of the damage that they have done to the NHS; there are some lovely staff members here but a few bring it down!
