Called to get a fit note from my Doctor but the rude girl at reception gave me www.nhshealthatwork.co.uk an occupational therapy website which has nothing to do with a fit note. A fit note is issued by your doctor or health professional caring for you. I asked who I was speaking to and rudely told I don't have the right to that information. Fair enough. Time to find out what our M.P. has to say. The reviews say all about these folks at Ossett Surgery reception.

Hope this message from Ossett Surgery can be altered to avoid confusion … the message reads …” Confirmation of appt with Ossett Surgery. Please note this confirmation may also include a tel appts also! “
I found it very confusing ( was I supposed to attend the surgery - or wait for a telephone consultation)?
Hopefully in the future one message could be sent for an appointment at the surgery and a separate one for a telephone consultation avoiding all confusion for the patient!

Sonographer is extremely rude and unprofessional, never have I been made to feel so small by a healthcare professional. My appointment had been cancelled because I had rung up and asked if they had any other times due to childcare, they didn’t so I left it as it was however the lady I spoke to at the time cancelled the appointment for some reason. My grandma was outside in the streets walking my 6 month old baby around so I could attend the appointment. The Sonographer patronised me in front of a busy reception area rather than taking me to one side to speak with me. She kept saying it wasn’t her fault (it wasn’t mine either) and said she couldn’t scan me as I didn’t desperately need the toilet. Low and behold she ended up scanning me after she realised she’d upset me in front of everyone so her earlier statement saying she couldn’t scan was her just being incredibly awkward and purposely difficult. My appointment was to scan for something the hospital had previously found which obviously is causing me a lot of worry and she had no empathy in how she spoke with me. In the scanning room, her colleague just kept staring at me like I was a piece of rubbish. The receptionist had already told me I would be their last appointment so obviously they were annoyed that they couldn’t go home at 4pm and instead had to leave 10 minutes later. Or perhaps she thought as I’m much younger than her that she can speak to me that way. As someone who works in private healthcare, I would be ashamed and embarrassed if I spoke to or witnessed a colleague speaking to a customer or patient how she did. Thankfully this isn’t my usual doctors surgery, if it was, i’d be leaving and submitting a formal complaint.

Called today to make an appointment at 8AM for my son who had a really bad chest. I was 33 in the queue at 8AM. I used the ring back service which was very good. My call back was received in 15 minutes. I was able to get a morning appointment which I was really pleased about considering the time of year and how busy the doctors are. On arrival we were taking in to our appointment by the doctor on time at 10:30, there was no long wait. We saw Dr Khan and she was lovely. Had a wonderful personality and was really good with my son and spent some time giving him a very thorough consultation. We had a very good all round experience.

My last 2 visits to have a blood retest have been ridiculous. I have a visual Impairment and I have a problem with seeing the board that shows when the doctor wants to see you. I've reported that I can't see this when my surgery was prospect surgery and it was on my notes that the person j was seeing needed to get me, the last 2 appointme ts I've had this has t happened. The other issue I had was my last appointment for a blood test. Nurse says to me nothing on system that shows I need a blood test or what blood tests I need despite been on medication where I need blood tests. Its ridiculous now the 2 surgeries have merged all prospect surgery's patients notes seem to have vanished into thin air,

Unprofessional and poor service, was going to make me wait 2 to 3 days without my mental health medication due to issues with my prescription. Was made out to be lying about not having my medication, and Reception staff were unhelpful and didn't care. Trying to get a appointment is also a Joke getting told to ring either 8 or 12 each day and that all appointments are taken, then to call the following day. This is after having the line busy tone in excess of 55 times prior to getting through.

You can never get an appointment. When you do, you get a random doctor that has to familiarise with your needs then you are generally rushed through a call. It took me 4 years to get a diagnosis after years of pain complaints. Drastically reducing my chances of treatment. Iv been calling up all week to get an appointment for my 10 year old son who has had a bad cough all week and not been well. Can never get through. When I do, I am advised all appointments are gone and that its busy at the moment. Why dont I try the walk in centre (huge waiting times - is this what i pay my taxes for? so i can be told to go sit in a walk in centre for 5 hrs) or ringing 111. No wonder there is an overload of the hospitals and NHS when people cannot get to see a doctor. You cannot keep allowing people to join, building new housing developments and not building any more facilities its just a joke at this point. Seriously having to contemplate moving due to the lack of medical health in the area. Someone should be held accountable for the state of health care in this area. When i was a child and sick, the doctor would come out to the house to visit. It seems those days are long gone. Even with the massive amounts of technological advancements in the last 30 years. We are going backwards and letting our most important services just disappear. Words cannot express the frustration and insecurity of the current health care system here in Ossett. Shocking service and with no accountability to fix this it will just continue to fall. It is all of us and our children's futures at risk when you do not address these clear issues. If you cannot handle the traffic (clearly you cannot) please appeal for more surgeries being built in the area however you can. Someone on the board needs to take responsibility and push for change. People and children are suffering.
