Unguided sessions, minimal input, doesn't deal with complex, long standing issues. Many cancelled appointments, high client throughput and limited number of sessions, 12! Options do not deal with crisis' (nut they do have a "crisis" drop in) or have training in post truama (though this may have changed).

If you have one specific problem, need to vent or short standing council, then maybe Options can help. But, if you are looking for long standing help and guidance I'd recommend looking else where.

I had a hugely positive experience with Options and the amazing Wendy Lee. I was made to feel comfortable and supported from the start. The sessions were delivered in a way that allowed me to finally begin to develop an understanding of my issue, and that made all the difference to me. I found my therapy uplifting in a common sense realistic way and now have a new found knowledge which l believe will make all the difference moving forward. I couldn't recommend Options enough.

After a slightly faltering start my experience has been positive, but as with CBT and other talking therapies, I would say you will get out what you put in. This is different to a 'take this and you will feel better' fix, but it does offer another way forward if that is what you are looking for. After taking part in the phone assessment I heard nothing but after a follow up I began having regular online sessions. The assessment was troubled by technical issues and I think was more a 'heads up' on my situation for the counsellor but while I didn't feel it added much, neither did it reflect the far more positive work that took place subsequently. Everyone will be here for different and very personal reasons, but I would say once engaged in the weekly online sessions I felt energised to explore my challenges and use the session time to feed back and work with my counsellor. The sessions are perhaps more an 'exploration' and one has to be prepared to go with what comes out of them. If you are willing to do that, be honest and open then this could prove a good choice. For me it took theories I already understood and made them personal and crucially helped me understand a lot more about how I'd reached this point.
