My husband had his cataracts removed and lens replacement treated by Optical Express several years ago. He had no issues, this encouraged me to use the services of Optical Express.
I had the procedure done in Dec 2024 and am very pleased with not only the results but also the caring services provided. I had lost my confidence with driving, which has been fully restored. I can drive now during the day and night. A big thank you to the Dartford team.

I recently had laser eye surgery at Optical Express in Dartford. The initial consultation appointment was very good, everything ran smoothly and the service overall was very good. The actual surgery itself went well and the team ensured I felt comfortable. However, when it comes to the after care appointments, it felt like a battle to book them in. After your surgery, you should be seen a day after, a month after, and finally three months after. During my initial consultation appointment, I specifically asked if they had weekend appointments for my future checkup appointments, I was told that they offer Saturday appointments and that I could book them in advance. In a nut shell, this is not the case. So, if you are thinking about having a procedure done, just be prepared that when it comes to booking your aftercare appointments, especially if you require evening or weekend appointments, you may be seen later than you should be (and later than what is actually quoted on your brochure that you receive during your consultation appointment). Whenever I tried to call them to book an appointment, I was either told that they don’t have access to the diaries until 24 hour before and to call a day before, or that they didn’t have anything for months. Even when I tried to call close to the date that I wanted, I was told there was nothing, so to me, it felt impossible to get these appointments booked. I finally got an appointment almost five months after surgery when this should have been three months after surgery, and even getting this booked in was a struggle. Once I rang up, a member of staff stated I had an appointment booked, then when I rang to confirm they then stated it wasn’t booked in. Considering my procedure was so expensive, I am shocked and disappointed with the aftercare at Optical Express in Dartford. Having spoken to a helpful member of staff at head office, it looks like there are many communication issues as she stated she could see plenty of availability in their diary, and she was even unsure as to why I struggled to book in appointments. It would seem that they prioritise initial consultation appointments over after care appointments, presumably in order to make more money. Unfortunately, I won’t be recommending Optical Express to anyone. It is a real shame as the procedure itself went well, but aftercare is so important, and I personally feel that they don’t acknowledge the importance of aftercare - and that is a huge issue.

Pretty disappointed. I booked in a for a laser eye surgery consultation. I have an extremely high prescription, been wearing glasses forever so was hopeful. Was told would take an hour a half 2 tops.

After a pretty good quick pre screen . I was told the optom had a function to be at at, so I would be given a room and phone call instead of face to face. Wasn't happy but fine.

Next after waiting 40 minutes I was told optom needs me to redo some scans. I have lots of pretty bad eyesight so I understood. Next I was left to sit there for 3 hours total waiting for this optom to call, which I was told I'll be taken into this room with a phone when they do call..

When I told them i am leaving if they don't call in the next 10 minutes, I was told they now can't get hold of the optom. So we agreed she will call me with the results next week.

I was told surgery would be over 5 grand. For that treatment, no thanks!

Edited to add that Heather and that did the scans was amazing, very knowledgeable and empathetic, I just felt that the optom had better things to do with their time.

I had lasik idesign under doctor Ayoubi (my surgeon). I have already left a review regarding the customer care (5stars). Dr Ayoubi face timed me before the surgery, went through the procedure and completely put my mind at rest. The surgery on the day lasted between 7-10 minutes total and Dr Ayoubi and his team kept me calm throughout (which is very important if you’re considering the surgery). I had 20:20 vision immediately and recovered and could open my eyes comfortably by the next day (there is manageable discomfort and light sensitivity straight after). Now I can see and it is a miracle. I totally recommend going with this surgeon as he is extremely experienced and capable. Thank you so much.

I had Lens Replacement Surgery in June 2024.
Dr Mirna Belovari and her team were amazing, spoke to me the whole time making sure I was happy. There was no pain or discomfort and all over so quickly. The surgery was a total success and I wished i had it done earlier. No need to wear glasses ever again.
The after care is also 5*. Ian Patterson checks and makes sure the surgery went well.
I highly recommend if you don't want to wear glasses again then choose Optical Express to get your Lens Replaced.

My wife's Cataract operation on both eyes went very well, she now does not need glasses and has needed glasses all her life till now, that is strange to her but very welcome.
Post op check up today was not very smooth, arranged a time with Optical Express a month ago and upon turning up they said the time had been changed without letting us know, however they did manage to fit her in after a while, this was the only problem she has had with appointments.
