From receptionists to the end of the consultation with doctors at each appointment I must say I’m satisfied.Clean environment too. The smile and attention to patients is great with me. One time my baby had a terrible skin rash and on my appointment with the doc,it appeared he wasn’t sure of what to diagnose and then he excused himself and returned with another colleague while they both examined my baby and prescribed and anti fungi cream and we were pleased cos it worked. Please keep it up at octagon.

The only reason I gave it 5 stars is for my asthma nurse who takes her time and listens. She puts me at ease.
The younger receptionists need more training. I feel I don't know the surgery anymore, it's changed so much.

Dear Octagon Medical Practice Team,

I am writing to share my feedback on my recent experiences at your practice. Firstly, I want to express my appreciation for the exceptional care provided by my doctor (Dr M.S SAKRAN,Mohamed). I greatly value his attentiveness to detail and the personalized treatment plans he offers. His commitment to my well-being is truly commendable.

However, I have encountered difficulties with scheduling appointments, particularly as a full-time student and employee with limited availability. Last week, I faced challenges in booking an appointment for my only available day, Friday. Despite calling promptly at 8:30 am, I was informed that no appointments were available. This situation was exacerbated by the response from the receptionist, whose tone and approach left me feeling disrespected. As a patient seeking care, I found this interaction quite upsetting.

Overall my experience has been positive. My only issue is the appointment system. Having to ring at 8am for an appointment covers urgent needs but if you have chronic health issues you may have to wait an unacceptable time to get a general appointment. The previous system where you could book online was great and don't understand why it was removed. Once I get an appointment the GPs have been very helpful, supportive of my multiple conditions and technology is up to date e.g. sending images of a skin condition and asking for information avoiding the need to take up an appointment slot.

The services I have received since I registered with octagon has been wonderful, the doctors and nurses are amazing. However I have few observations regarding the services of the receptionists, I am hopeful they can improve in creating a friendly or welcoming environment for the service users regardless of the race and ethnicity.

My experience of this surgery has been nothing but positive. Previously been healthy and rarely visited a doctors surgery, but due to a back injury a few years back I found my first port of call the Octagon Medical Centre and my Dr and Physio at the centre have been nothing short of a Godsend. Due to the nature of my injury and the waiting list for hospital appointments etc after Covid I was initially dreading the wait, but have been well looked after and was sent for a scan relatively quick after my initial appointment at the Octagon Medical Centre. A couple of surgical procedures later and one to one with pain management specialists have helped me come to terms with my ongoing injury and I feel positive about my recovery and the future. My medication and prescriptions have always been talked through and are always available when requested and I am now being talked through my next procedure with the specialists - all thanks to that initial meeting with my Doctor at the Octagon MC. All involved have been nothing but a credit to the NHS and if you’re unsure about your next step then my advice is make an appointment to discuss it with someone at the Octagon MC and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed and any worries will alleviate after that discussion. Thank you OMC!

Unfortunately when you reach a certain age you become more liked by your GP surgery, maybe I’m too cynical but it seems as though the practice gets more money from the GMC for having older patients to prey upon, in testing, programmes and vaccinations. I refuse to be a walking pin cushion, that said, in general the doctors do a great job when you need them to, as do the practice nurses. My biggest problem still remains getting past the reception staff to see the people that I really need to see.

On the rare occasions i have been to the surgery i have always found the reception staff to be very helpful and friendly. The doctors have given me assurance of any concerns I may have had.
