I gave birth at Northwick Park hospital on January 1st and overall had a positive experience. My contractions started very regular and intense and after 1hr felt the need to call triage for advice. The midwife named Abi who answered said I wouldn’t be ready to come in until the following evening as it was my first baby. Despite explaining the symptoms which suggested I was progressing quickly. I know she was only trying to be helpful but she came across a little patronising, asking my husband to make me a hot chocolate, take paracetamol and lie down. We called again an hour later and she asked us to come in. I was examined and was already 6cm dilated. Within an hour of arriving at hospital, my baby was born! I think that midwife Abi should not assume all first time mums experience long labour because it’s clearly not the case. If we would have waited like she said, my baby would have been born at home! My young midwife named Hukma was absolutely amazing, along with the help of another experienced midwife. I escaped with no stitches and discharged the same day. They really helped me navigate my baby out carefully with only gas and air for pain relief. I would definitely return to this hospital for my next baby. Any new mums reading this should remember most people only write reviews when they have something negative to say. They are midwives and not miracle workers. Nature takes its course and not everything can be controlled.

Sorry it's late! But I wanted to praise the maternity team at Northwick Park for their outstanding level of care and service I'd received when I gave birth a month early in mid October.

I was admitted 2 and a half weeks prior to giving birth due to high BP and remained in hospital for a total of 19 nights. Fantastic hospitality, great midwives and doctors for their close monitoring for the safety and wellbeing for my baby girl and myself. We are both doing great now.

The service was as good as receiving private care. Thank you all so much..a fantastic hospital I'd recommend to anyone for the maternity services.

My wife had a traumatic experience here, and it wasn’t just her—other mothers in our ward experienced similar issues. While the daytime staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, the night shift staff seemed uninterested and unprofessional. when we approached them for assistance regarding recovery, they either ignored us completely or responded in a way that made us feel like we were being a burden. Their attitude was dismissive and unkind, as if we had asked them for something unreasonable.

Mothers coming out of the delivery room are in a vulnerable state and deserve compassion, patience, and proper care. The night staff needs urgent training in communication, empathy, and how to support new mothers and their families effectively. This is not just a matter of service—it’s about ensuring the well-being of both mothers and newborns during a critical time.

So I gave birth Sep 2023 so it’s been a while, but wanted to share my experience. Overall it was fine just some stuff needs to be worked on…

One of them being not taking patients seriously. On my check up 6 months in, midwife realised there was a UTI starting to form which I was supposed to be given meds for but never received anything. That escalated within 48 hours or so. During those days I called Triage as I was having high temperature now for more than a day, shivers in the night, and my lower back was KILLING. My partner called during midnight but since there was a heatwave at the time they told me ā€˜drink water ā€˜ and it will pass as they thought it was just the heat šŸ™„ even though it’s important to get checked up when you have a high fever and SHIVERS when pregnant……Next day or so I’m still the same and my mum (a nurse at the same hospital) tells me to call them and say I’m even worse. After an hour or so waiting in triage they take me in and straight away the know something bad is up. It turns out I had sepsis šŸ¤— something that could of been prevented if I got given my antibiotics or if they took me in on the first call…..ended up staying in hospital a few nights thankfully nothing bad happened thanks to my mum that told me to call again and don’t listen to their ā€˜advice’.

And last thing the day I gave birth….I was getting contractions every 2 minutes during the day, I called triage and they told me to wait even longer?!?! At that point I couldn’t bare the pain but they told me to stay home My mum once again told me to ignore them and to go in. When I got to the hospital (30 min drive) I was already 5cm dilated in active labour….

Very poor from them and should listen more.

But thankfully during giving birth my 2 midwives were very nice and followed my birth plan, so happy with how it ended.

Gave birth to my baby 2 months ago in this hospital and I had the most traumatic birth experience
Some midwives are nice but most of them are rude and don’t understand how critical their job is. For some reason, they only boss around.
My waters broke and I had to wait for 62 hours which lead to my baby getting infection. Staff severely lags empathy.
Imagine being in active Labour whilst your midwife just sits on the computer making notes and just says ā€œpush whenever you’re readyā€.

My aunty was very anxious about her induction . She didnt want to go in, when we got the call from our midwife she was very understanding. Went in to meet her , she tried her best to calm my aunty down . Explained the procedure and how long it might take before baby was born. She held my auntys hand , took her time when inserting the balloon . Made her laugh and relax . Clearly she knew what she was doing and being very compassionate. During her pain she was there to make sure she had the gas and air as well as other pain killers . She went out of her way to follow my aunty to labour ward and made sure that she had epidural since she was still nervous. My aunty had a lovely delivery we went back to say thank you . But she was on her day off . To the midwife Halima . Who did a long day friday . Then a night Saturday . And Sunday. Thank you so much . We will never forget your kindness and the care you showed to my Aunty and family . We will forever be grateful.

I am overall very happy with all the care I received and I would recommend this maternity.
3 years ago, I had my first baby in a London Maternity rated outstanding. We then moved right next to Northwick Park Maternity… and I had some concerns when choosing the maternity for the second baby, especially after looking at the CQC rating (from 2021) and advices.
However, I would choose NPH again !!!!
I had a few serious complications from the pregnancy to the delivery, and I was treated appropriatly.
My baby and I are both healthy despite all the complications- thank you to the amazing staffs!!!!

Extremely pleased with the midwifes and nurses and doctors. Went in 28 weeks pregnant to be diagnosed with severe preaclempsia. They tried their best to keep me monitored and tried to keep the baby in to develop but as soon as pain started they acted fast with an emergency C-section. Baby is fine, and me too. They took great care of me while in the maternity unit, my baby is gettIng great care of aswell and progressing. They were all sooo lovely and wanted the best for me and the baby even tho being so scared of all the feedback and reviews I heard! Keep it up! šŸ‘šŸ¼ thank you!
