A&E is for accident and Emergency ONLY, not a drop in service because you can’t see a GP.
Ring 111, wait for advice, it took me 5 hours for a response and then an hour for an ambulance to take me to A&E on Saturday afternoon.
The service was absolutely amazing, short wait in ambulance, straight to a contagious illness side room, multiple tests, drips etc, ECG etc. A full mot was preformed, ALL the care assistance, HCA’s, Staff nurses, senior nurses, all the doctors and the porters & tea ladies were 100% amazing.
So, follow the rules if you’re really ill, then this is the place you need to be in. Otherwise use the options of pharmacy, your own GP, 111 services and the on call emergency doctors.
But not WAITING is a MANDATORY REQUIREMENT.

Awful as a carer i’ve experienced how bad northampton general hospital parking is for people with disabilities (blue badges).
The car park has been designed to inconvenience visitors and blue badges holders at the hospital.
a blue badge is designed to leave on display on your car dashboard to prevent a disabled person to park and then look for a payment meter.
As from arrival at the hospital there is no parking at accident and emergency you have to park on the other side of the hospital also before leaving the car park you must find a payment meter to show your blue badge details and enter your vehicle registration then try to return to your vehicle and exit the car park with in a time limit and i can esure you it a task especially with a wheelchair and lack of paths and steep hills lifts and lack of parking spaces as a carer im astonished my last 2 visits to the hospital i have paid over £100 parking fines and obviously if i appealed as the letter states i would loose and pay nearly double in fines.
my wife even cancelled a appointment due to anxiety over another fine

A massive thank you to the radiotherapy team. Always made me feel so at ease, talked me through everything. They are all so lovely and the department runs brilliantly. I was quite anxious about my radiotherapy, but had absolutely nothing to worry about.
I am so grateful for the care you gave me.

I was there yesterday morning. Arrived at 9am. I saw the doctor at 12:30pm. There weren't many people around 9-10am but it filled up around lunch time. Despite the wait of a few hours, I was well received and received the care adapted to my condition.

92 year old mum admitted to resuscitation on Sunday evening. Ambulance staff wonderful compassionate and caring. Staff in resuscitation efficient and professional. Caring for mum and me both. Onto assessment bay and then GEM 11 and then Spencer Ward. Staff under extreme pressure, but my goodness what a magnificent team they are in our hour of need. I cannot fault the care , skill and compassion in all departments. Heartfelt thanks to you all. How fortunate we are to have such dedicated people at NGH.

The car parking this morning was the most difficult and frankly frightening experience I have suffered when visiting this hospital as an outpatient in the last decade. The hospital staff are great but some look very tired. It took me 40 minutes to find a parking space after which I was not in the best condition for a urine flow test!
I live 12 miles from the hospital which takes less travelling time (even in the rush hours) than finding a parking space.
Someone should seriously address this!

1 star is too much.

2 cases of serious mental health issues in 3 months - i was sent to the same place within the hospital twice. They were my only options left at the time. Both times, I was left alone for 2 hours and left unacknowledged. The first time, I'd given up and became too agitated to wait any longer. The second time, i bit the bullet and waited despite the agony of my distress. Eventually a team of 2 male "mental health nurses" called me into a room.
I sensed their discomfort straight away so i tucked myself into the corner as to make them feel more comfortable with me.
But they had ZERO patience for me or any answers I'd given them anyway. I felt intimidated by the constant harsh questioning, raised eyebrows, sniggering here and there. I'd already answered questions 10 times by this point. If I took too long to answer a question, or I became upset, or for some reason could not speak, I was SIGHED at. They both looked back and forth from one another and back to me in disgust. I went there for help, clueless, and they outright asked me "so what do you want us to do? We can't help, neither can the Crisis houses. We don't understand what it is you want from us."
I asked to leave and they watched in amusement as I frantically tried to find the exit door. They smiled as they pressed the buzzer for me to leave.

To add to my distress, I had no way of getting home 15 miles away, I tried walking back in the cold and dark. Luckily, I was picked up and take home an hour later.

Please feel free to check any footage, by the way.

Not one single soul stopped me or helped me.

Your staff are entirely careless towards your patients.
I would suggest taking down your mental health ward and making actual use of it.

If I am ever referred to your ward again against my will, I cannot be held responsible for my reaction to your hospital's lack of care and treatment. I told everyone before going in that i am a risk to the public - and the AMBULANCE CREW said "youre at full capacity. You have no reason to be a risk to anyone."

Well, thanks very much for nothing, again.

Perhaps re-train your staff or hire people who can actually deal with mental health patients.

Disgusting place to be.

I have just spent 15 hours in A and E, in various areas. You can clearly see that the department is under immense pressure but each and every member of staff treated me with dignity and kindness, and got me home as soon as they could. These people are literal hero’s, and should be paid more!!!
