🚨 AVOID 🚨 January 2025. Absolutely awful. Complete waste of time. Forget about them - just find a private therapist if you’re going through a difficult time. I experienced an extremely difficult time, and was offered an “assessment”. You should be aware this assessment is a thorough and intrusive deep dig into all of your traumatic history at a very detailed level, yet it’s only an “assessment”. It will be exhausting, deeply personal, and they don’t care how traumatic it is or that it goes into extremely personal traumas. It’s all just a note taking exercise for them. I was told they’d come back to me the next day, but it took over one week for them to contact me. Then Manjit phoned to say that they needed to have a big NHS staff meeting to discuss me and my personal traumas before their service could deem me worthy of their counselling services. Given I’ve had issues with “Breach of Confidentiality” by the NHS, I said no, also because its ridiculous and shocking that after I shared so much personal trauma in an assessment, and that it wasn’t enough, they wanted more traumatic information and a big NHS staff meeting to discuss my personal information.

It was presented as an ULTIMATUM: you must agree to a big NHS staff meeting for everyone to discuss all your personal trauma OR we won’t offer you counselling. I absolutely am not agreeing to a big staff meeting to discuss things I shared in a confidential 1 to 1 assessment, and it’s unprofessional and disgusting that it come to this.
I’m disgusted with this unprofessional service, and have asked for my personal data to be deleted immediately.
Please know this info before you agree to their “assessment” - that all your personal information will be discussed in big NHS staff meetings and you’ll be forced to agree to this before they’ll even consider offering you counselling.

My contact and interactions with this service has been helpful, positive and ultimately supportive to my situation. I was on a waiting list for some time, which was difficult, however, I do appreciate that accessing a free service such as this, is likely to be hugely over subscribed.
The care and attention I have received thus far really has been markedly beneficial towards my ongoing mental health challenges.
Sarah and Elaina have been working with me (and continue to) support, listen, reflect, asking questions, empowering me to find the answers, find my way, through an intensely difficult period of my life.
Their conduct is professional, punctual, reliable. I know that they will contact me precisely when arranged, and that any additional information discussed is provided straight after a call.
Both Sarah and Elaina exude a genuine vibe of care, compassion and interest towards me.
Currently they are both helping/supporting me in two different areas.
Their support is so valued. I have so much gratitude towards them both.

If you find yourself on a (long) waiting list, particularly when you’re feeling that you really want some help, It can feel so hard.
Hopefully, once you do get to talk with someone, it can be helpful, constructive and supportive in your goals of achieving a balance/better mental health/feeling better. Good luck, and hugs

NHS Talking Therapies/iTalk may genuinely have saved my life.

I have struggled with multiple mental health issues for my entire adult life. I don't want to share my entire medical history publicly on Google, but to give you a sample idea of some of the Greatest Hits: Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Panic Attacks, etc.

In January of last year, I finally reached my breaking point where it all got too much for me, so I reached out for help.

I contacted my GP who, in turn, put me in touch with NHS Talking Therapies.

The staff there have been, without exception, wonderful. They listen. They do not judge. They are caring, compassionate, supportive, empathetic and sympathetic. They offer solid, helpful, considered advice. They are warm, friendly and very easy to talk to.

I have had the pleasure of speaking with several members of the team now, each one helping me with a different facet of my mental health issues, and I can honestly say that each and every one of them has been genuinely helpful and a legitimate pleasure to deal with.

In particular, a lady named Michelle King, one of their Patient Contact Officers, has been beyond excellent in her dealing with me. I felt an immediate rapport with her, in a way that is very rare with me. She is a credit to the entire service. In the space of a 30-40 minute phone call, she lifted a tremendous weight from my shoulders, purely by talking to me like a human being and engaging with me on a warm, friendly and compassionate level. At the start of that call, I was in a very dark place. By the end, I could see the light at the end of the tunnel.

This is a 10/10 service staffed with genuinely good people who honestly want to help and to make a positive difference in the lives of their clients.

I have changed my review from 1 star to 5 stars.
The reason for this was because I didn't get help for many years and did a few assessments to try and get help. I felt rejected by this service.

I had since had treatment, around a year or 2 ago. I now can see it has been helpful for me to understand what I'm going through.

Thank you.
