My father was brought to the Rosemary ward from West Suffolk hospital after an illness to undergo rehabilitation. We were unimpressed by the quality of care and professionalism of a member of nursing staff who was more interested in chatting to other patients than caring for my father. On being asked to help by my mother as my dad was falling out of bed she was told by the nurse that she was very busy whilst in reality she was chatting. The staff seemed to lack any real medical expertise and after 2 nights he was rushed to A and E at West Suffolk. He died there a few days later. Shame on you Newmarket Hospital. The only saving grace was the excellent support West Suffolk Hospital gave my father in his dying days.I do not recommend this ward for you or any relatives you care about.

Not the most pleasant experience over the last few weeks!
All we needed to do was weigh my client ( who is a wheelchair user) using sit on scales. Our first port of call was the GP surgery. However, we was informed they were broken. So, called Newmarket hospital.
I have spoken to a few receptionists who were quite helpful ( unfortunately all saying different things) Initially I was told we could only go on a Monday. Then we was advised we could go on any day, but needed to call first. Then advised we could go any day!

We was however advised that we would need a nurse with us to be able to use the weighing scales.
My last phone call was with a snotty lady who was not listening to what I was telling her. I tried to advise her that I had been told so many different stories. Again, she was not listening. She then advised me she would call me back later that afternoon( but did not call till much later) leaving a mumbled voicemail.
We went to the hospital the following day at approx 2.35pm. We spoke to the nurse who said she could fit us in quickly as was busy.
I got my client out of the car and into the hospital, to be greeted by the same abrupt receptionist and nurse. Receptionist said she had called and left a voicemail, totally over riding what the nurse had said about allowing us to weigh my client. She then proceeded to say “ I told you between 12- 12.30 “
    So, off we went again!
My client has since been in today with another support worker to get weighed. Both of the girls said they felt a nuisance, the nurse kept saying “ is this going to be a regular thing, as we shouldn’t really be doing this’ I mean seriously! All we wanted to do was get an up to date weight.

Arrived on time but forgot my blood test form and was told they couldn't see me. Apparently they can't print off blood test forms.....in a blood test clinic. They offered me another appointment, which would have been fine if I didn't have to make an hour's round trip from Haverhill because the Tories cut all of our health services. Probably won't bother now as it's only a routine test.

Have just returned from my first visit to this hospital and am amazing at the service received! I was seen extremely promptly, was sent for an X-ray which again was a very quick and pleasant experience, and returned for a further consultation to discuss the results and a treatment, all within 20 minutes! Couldn't fault it.

Treatment at this hospital for cancer operation by surgeon 5 star and surgerial staff however reception staff was obessed with young man who clearly worked for nhs and ignored us whilst checking us in to speak to him although he was been dealth with another staff member, cafe overpriced with robotic staff, felt checking in and buying a coffee an inconvenience, however beautiful hospital for nhs, surgeon and medical staff I couldn't fault, however as a non patient awaiting an anxious operation of my partner felt that the reception and cafe staff has forgotten that real people are attending for real problems

    Go up
