Went in 8/1/25 for a hernia repair the surgeon was excellent. The anaesthetist were brilliant. Made me feel very safe and calm me down because I was very anxious. All the nurses on forest ward we’re extremely kind and made me feel happy and safe. I can’t fault the hospital they have saved my life on many occasions.

I must say thank you to all the team, I had a small surgery today, and I was skeptical due to a lot of bad reviews. But I guarantee you that it was an amazing experience. Staff is lovely, and the structure they have there is really good. I strongly recommend this place.

Helpful staff at the frontline.
My stay at the ward late in the year 2020 saw helpful healthcare assistants (HCA) and a few nurses. What made everything worse is the nurses that are non-existent at night shift who go to sleep whilst one nurse or mainly HCA are exploited by the staff to manage more than 2 or 3 wards filled with patients - one nurse and one HCA are supposed to be on duty every shift rotating every 12 hours. In emergencies the nurse never attends. They have feedback forms, make sure you use them.

This is the worst hospital in the world, I think, I'm not angry at how it's set up and why don't they learn from others how to work!? Why do we pay huge taxes on these parasites who are still on strike because they earn little!! It's just awful, I arrived with a heart attack at 3:00 in the morning, in the first 40 minutes they measured my blood pressure, then did an electrocardiogram, when I asked what was wrong with me, the worker answered, the doctor will answer, and so it began that they forgot, first a fine, then at 8:30 in the morning they sent me to the West Wing, where a woman came out and said that we wouldn't have to wait long, but if we wanted, they would redirect us to the nearest GP for playlists, since the pain did not subside, I asked if it was faster to send me, to which the answer was, they did an electrocardiogram here, so they will see me soon, and what do you think, after 2 hours of waiting, he comes out and says to go to another GP, people, is this an ambulance This is a funeral home of damned bureaucrats and unprofessionals

Our 18 month old had breathing difficulties, we went in at 2am and were seen immediately. The nurses were incredibly kind and supportive and the doctors brilliant. So glad to have had such a positive experience at such a scary time! 11 hours later our baby was much better and we could leave. Thank you A&E children’s department!

Can’t say I’m impressed. Wife start contracting midwife said to call back when contractions were every 5minutes and we will then come in. When that happens they change it to 3minutes. We live 7 minutes away, we come in and they make you feel like you shouldn’t be there - labour ward try to persuade you to go to birth centre, you the. Get there and they try to persuade you to go to labour ward. A joke. Then when assessed they were amazed my wife was already 5cm dilated (see point about contraction times changing). During the birth (7cm+ diameter), they made her walk between wards (no wheel chairs which is a theme at this hospital). Had to wait 2 hours for epidermal as either didn’t have the aneathesist or not the machine, never the two shall meet. Post birth initially ok - transferred to next ward. During our time here, no one checks on you, no one tells you what you should or shouldn’t do, though if you do something you shouldn’t which can be anything simple you’d not think off (they will tell you off). I enquired about the babies eye, as would not open was told “I don’t have my gloves to check, it’s probably fine.” - we had to wait ages to be discharged but at the same time they couldn’t wait to discharge us and not be there responsibility. Less than 12 hours after discharge we were in A&E as eye badly infected. We had to wait and be passed around wards all day (as we had been discharged you’re treated like a regular patient and no one wants you), also lost a lot a alarming amount of body weight - we had to sit there and listen to doctor argue with various wards as to why they should take him in for care, each ward refusing - neo natal ward then took him (can’t fault neonatal ward other non existent reception so can never get in), as on neonatal ward there is no where for mum to stay - he was there for 1 week, day time we were with him but night without us. Had it been another ward they would have kept him and mum together. - Whilst there I spoke to midwives as my wife was clearly not well, and not in a normal post pregnancy sense. Eventually someone agrees to check her. Red Bloods were 70, they wouldn’t give her a transfusion - she is very anemic at this point, and I can’t leave her with the baby or on her own as a result (can barely speak a lot of the time) . I now effectively have two patients to try and manage. I barely ate the whole week as there’s no consideration for dads even when the mum and baby are sick. Baby is eventually discharged for second time, less than 12 hours later we have an emergency. My concerns of my wife were true, she lost a lot of blood over floor at home, it took this for them to do some proper checks - turns out she requires surgery to address (took three days to sort that out not because it was complex just because badly organised), so three more days and nights in hospital. Wife mentions other pains whilst there and these get fobbed off, I reraise them, seeing the amount of pain she is in, they agree to do some further checks and turns out she also has an infection that requires antibiotics and treatment. I am fed up of having to argue for any help and not being taken seriously. To add to it - the receptionists are rude, they sit on their phones ignoring you ringing the buzzer making you as a dad not want to leave to get any food as a result as you’re afraid you can’t get back in (which happened repeatedly). Our story isn’t even over yet - still in the hospital. Oh and midwife’s as usual all stood around chatting, my wife was alone with our child one night, he is colic and despite fact she can barely stand they would not assist / I had already asked them to assist her with the eye drops - I had been in the hospital for almost a week and half sleeping on chairs and I needed to go back to get a nights rest. This hospital has actually made me now sick

For whatever reason my normal treatment at Whipps Cross was cancelled and the best fit they could get me in time was here. Bit more of a faff for me to get to but otherwise a positive experience.

The staff I asked directions from (being unfamiliar with Newham), the medical people who dealt with me on the day were all lovely.

I had an appointment today with Chrissie (occupational therapist), she has been amazing so far. Explained all the procedures really well. Loved it
