I’ve been trying to get an appointment to see a GP at Newbuyers this week, but I think I’d have more luck drawing blood from a stone.

Called on Friday around 5pm to ask for a routine appointment, as advertised on their website, but was told that they don’t offer routine appointments and I’d need to call in at 8am to be triaged as an emergency, despite it not being an emergency.

Wasn’t able to get through on Monday or Tuesday due to long waits. Called again on Wednesday morning and got through to someone that said the phone line is for people struggling to breathe between 8am and 8:30am - surely you would call 999 in that scenario?

Trying to call back at 8:30am now and the line is off, constantly user busy and no option to join the IVR/queue.

It's always difficult to get a face to face appointment which can lead to further health issues if not treated. Dr McCormack was very helpful & understanding during my phone consultation. Excellent doctor.

This surgery is a disgrace! Been concerned about my 5 year old for a while phoned many times to get an appointment there are never any appointments available or they don’t see it as urgent so they put us in for call backs in 2 weeks no one actually see’s him and the doctors just put him on waiting lists. We are now taking him private and when we have the proof we need we will be suing for negligence!

Worst GP I have ever been assigned too.

If you are ever "lucky" enough to get an appointment , the complications dont end there.

Over the course of more than a year I was referred to the wrong specialist even after questioning the GPs referral at the appointment. better part of a year passed to then be passed to Spire because the wait had exceeded the NHS standard, for the Spire Specialist to question why I was ever referred to him and state he would put in my notes that I was to be referred to the correct specialist. Months passed I then received a call from Newbyres telling me that I couldn't be referred again without starting the process again through a GP appointment.

Incompetence, poor standard of service, an appointment system that can see sit on hold after calling seconds after the designated time to be told no appointments.

Seems to get worse every week. Face to face with a GP very rarely available. I turned up for a nurse appointment and I was five minutes early. My name was requested and I was asked to sit down. The surgery was virtually empty at the time. 25 minutes later I approached the reception to be told that the previous member of staff had not noted my attendance. The nursing staff were now on lunch break. Could I come back later ? Not possible for me as I live several miles away in a small village with no transport links. Very unprofessional.

When I need them, I call them to get an appointment and they just give excuses why talking to me now is an impossibility to just look and see when the doctor’s have availability.

It’s actually stupid and I’d don’t understand why they are doing this. The surgery would run more efficiently if they only spoke to each person once.

I feel like the receptionists know AI is round the corner and they’re making it seem far harder than it is. I should just be able to book online how can I book a dinner table in a restaurant in 20 seconds yet the doctors, something people depend on, is this useless and slow

I've never had any issues with getting an appointment. Yesterday I phoned at 8:30, had an appointment booked by 8:35 and got a phone call back from the doctor at 8:45. I used to get a bit nervous phoning up as the receptionist could be a bit snippy but I think there is new staff there, doing a fabby job and are always kind and helpful on the phone. Dr Archibald, who I was booked with, was very kind and reassuring and took her time with me. GP surgeries tend to get a lot of bad reviews but I can honestly say that I've never had any issues with the practice and really glad I moved to the surgery.

If I could give zero stars I would. Dreadful surgery at best. Negligent at worst.

I have lived in Gorebridge for almost 3 years now. In that time I have needed to see a GP 4 times. Managed to get in once.

One time they denied me I ended up in hospital for a week with the early symptoms of sepsis, when a quick examination would have sorted the problem quickly with antibiotics.

Today they haven't even bothered to answer the phones. Disgraceful.
