This is a email I’ve had to write this morning to another doctor to get my prescription, because the staff at this surgery refuse to prescribe the medication I’ve been taking for twenty years. I have applied to move to a different surgery as this one is very difficult to use.

Dear Doctor
I wanted to thank you for the liquid thyroxine prescription it has worked out really well. I have found it’s more stable the perfect amount for me seems to be 114 mg as per my t4, t3 and tsh levels which I test weekly. Unfortunately I am having trouble with my gp surgery (new Dover rd) and they only want to prescribe a bottle of 100 micrograms and won’t prescribe the bottle of 25micrgrams. I am moving to another GP. Would it be possible for you to prescribe me a bottle of 25 micrograms ?
I’m happy to pay
Best
Jim

I was here a few weeks ago and the nurse was incapable of taking blood, a very unpleasant experience digging around in both my arms with a needle, I’ve never had trouble giving blood before.

If you value your health stay clear of this practice

The staff seem to be on a power trip very keen to say what you’re not allowed to do unless you have permission from them. Protocol and bureaucracy and now an online booking system are a barrier to common sense. It’s very dangerous to have Unqualified administrators telling you what medication you can and cannot take. Look after yourselves this place is bad for your health.

It’s so bad they have a complaints department that told me my complaint was too old to be considered.

Great and efficient surgery. Really positive experience when attending a recent appointment with the nurse (Michelle). She was really friendly, put me at ease straight away and explained everything well. She asked if I had any questions and took her time.

I have received excellent care from New Dover Road Surgery, from the staff on reception as well as the doctors and nurses. I often speak to Lucy when trying to arrange an appointment and I always feel reassured that I am being listened to and given an appointment as quickly as possible. She is lovely. Thank you to everyone for all your help over the years.

Thanks to Dr. Duhawma for his excellent patient care in making contact following an e-consult and then listening, advising and making a referral to the practice nurse. Also, to the nurse (sorry don't know her name) who treated, advised and was lovely and helpful.

Excellent communication and service from the reception team in person and over the phone. The doctor I saw was highly professional, kind and very thorough in his approach to my medical issue. A great team of people working hard to support a high volume of patients from what I saw when I visited the surgery for the first time.

We have been asked on behalf of patient who wishes to have this message shared, but does not use electronic

On behalf of NDR patient – RB

I would like to say how professional and caring the service was I received recently at the surgery. From Dr Duhawmas’ swift action realising I needed urgent care and arranging my admission to hospital, the reception manager, Jenny, organising safe storage of my car so I had no worry and then after being discharged from hospital receiving expert and holistic care from Sally the practice nurse.

The whole team are excellent and I am so glad they were there to help me.

Thank you RB

I’m a doctor and I’m disappointed how they handled my mum’s case. While I appreciate all the constraints and pressures at the moment, it’s not how we are taught at medical school.

We did the tedious online form to say she has a red rash - and without seeing even a photo she was prescribed a steroid cream. This is guesswork! You can’t diagnose something based on the words red and rash without so much as even seeing it.

Not ok.

This online system really discriminates against those who are not so computer savvy which lets face it are the elderly.

I know all of you are working hard and trying your best but this is really not the solution.
