A few months ago now I had an appointment with a nurse at Dunnington who was so lovely, kind and didn't make me feel rushed.
What did shock me was a letter came to light that day on their system explaining how I needed to be referred in 12 months time for a follow up chest scan of my lungs due to a progressive disease and nodules...the letter is 5 years old, yet never informed of follow up needed.
Some time ago now I had a shocking telephone appointment with a very well known male GP within the practice. I called concerned with some scan results and heart trace. When I explained how I had found my results on my log in with no explanation or doctor's call, as well as how long it had taken me to muster up the courage to call that day he told me, 'We all have to die one day". .
Upto present day and still I am left speechless. Popped into Dunnington surgery last week asking to see a doctor or nurse. The place was empty, no patients, no doctors and no nurse according to the receptionist. I explained that I already have a progressive lung condition and how I was really worried as my lungs were filled with phlegm which I found
impossible to clear, also my breathing was a real struggle. I was told nothing could be done there and then and to call back the next day. The next day I had an ambulance on my drive 15 minutes after calling NHS111, not requested by me, but NHS111.

Shocking!

I would like to give a belated thank you to Holly the receptionist, who was very kind and helpful last year. She was very sympathetic and helped me with a GP appointment for my Mother. My Mother has recently had the knee surgery and is already much better.
On a different note, I have just read a one star review for Dunnington surgery, which I think is harsh. It is coming up as 3 months old but criticises Dr Crowley. Dr Crowley was my Dr and he hasn’t worked there in a long while. He was ill and then I believe he went to Australia, a few years ago now. He was always a lovely caring Dr and immediately picked up on any medical issues, including my gallbladder.
Also Dr Alison Travis has been at Dunnington for many years. She is just the best. I also had severe anaemia a few years ago. As soon as I walked into her surgery, she said I think you are anaemic. A subsequent blood test confirmed this and I was straight into Outpatients and iron transfusions. She is good at her job and kind. She has always been helpful to both myself and my Mother.
I just want to balance the other review.
We are lucky to have a surgery in Dunnington and we all missed it, when it closed temporarily for covid. Things aren’t the same now unfortunately post covid.
